64S frequently not showing in S1

Just verified my 64S, NSB 32, S1, UC (S1 & UC on imac 15) are updated, SB direct connect to board, board networked to mac, board also USB to mac. I power on SB, then 64S, then when finished booting, start S1. Board frequently not showing in s1. When it does show up, if I select the board in S1, then the SB inputs will disconnect. I cannot find any S1 setting that turns off AUTO SETUP (I read that somewhere). Seems like a sync issue. Board and SB will function fine together, have board set to internal clock. What am I missing?

Try the setup with only the USB connection between Mac and 64S.

Two cables is two connections, one (USB) for audio and control, the other (Control UTP) for control only. That confuses things.

The only situation to use two cables/connections is when you include your Mac in the AVB network too, which is possible with the right UTP port hardware and maybe some 3rd party software (Hive, but MacOS offers native support too). Advanced stuff.

Ok i am just usb between mac & 64S, board shows up every time now in S1, thank you so much. Board does not show in mac UC, guess when i need to update board, i will connect mac to 64S network jack then remove after update. Does that sound right?

The UC connection used to work with just USB too, so maybe you can force a (re)update to see if that fixes the USB linking. Or maybe the 64S claims the entire USB connection, locking UC out?

As for updates I strongly recommend doing that with only the Control UTP connection, so without USB connected. UTP updates are fast and USB updates are slow. Unfortunately with both connections present updating slows down to USB speed, which may cause some other side effects too.

With only USB between board & S1, today we lost the SB inputs & S1 connection. Ive tested our new cat6 between 64S & SB, solid termination & 900MHz bandwidth. I rebooted SB a few times, no SB inputs persisted until i rebooted board. Board set to 44Mhz & internal clock. It worked for several hrs, then we lost SB inputs & S1. Rebooting mac, reconnecting usb, did not solve issue. Im wondering if bad SB or board? To simplify devices. Ill try no USB or network to board to see if we lose SB inputs.

Did you submit a support ticket? We can continue here trying to find a solution for the problems you ran into, but maybe you have to optimise something on the computer side first. Customer Support knows way more about that than this forum combined I reckon.
