Tool Shortcut Numbers Change Between Main Window and Piano Roll

Smith

New member
Hi, I am using Studio One 7 and I have noticed a glitch with the tool shortcuts. When I use tools in the main window, each tool has a specific number shortcut. However, when I switch to the Piano Roll (Editor), the same tools change to different shortcut numbers. This creates confusion and slows down the workflow, especially when switching quickly between arrangement and editing.

If this can be fixed so the tool shortcuts stay consistent in both the main window and the Piano Roll, it would greatly improve the workflow.

Thank you for looking into this.

The toolbar number assignment order follows the left to right button layout for the Arrange and Edit Views.
I'm not aware of a way to change this as it appears to be by design.

Nice euphemism.

S1 has the tendency to not get the details right. I started to check how these small things are implemented in Cubase and no surprise they are implemented properly every time I check.

Keyboard shortcuts in Cubase are identical for the same tools in arranger and note editor.

Mouse wheel changes are reversible and safe in Cubase. Three rotations up and three rotations down and I land on the same value again for frequency changes in the EQ. S1 requires an explicit undo.

Selecting a note in the note editor via mouse pointer always selects the note in Cubase no matter where I click exactly. If I hit the lower note edge accidentally in S1 the note gets moved down for no reason. (This won't happen for the upper note edge.)

Would love to upvote the feature request (Thanks to the OP for creating it - I can see it but since the Fender account consolidation which now requires my Google Account login I can't get to the feature request after logging into my.presonus (FFS)). But wanted to say I agree it is frustrating to have to use different shortcut keys in the two different views. One of those things that should be customizable for the user. +1

I agree and voted for this as it's important for tool shortcuts to be consistent.

Yes, this is daft, and it's an unfortunate mistake, because any attempt to fix it will upset people who've got used to how it is now.

Trying to follow link to the Feature Request but it doesn't seem to be working.

I suspect it's the global CloudFlare failure that's affecting this. I'd try again in a day or two.
Yes, the Cloudflare issue is causing major outages for websites.

Hi Trucky - thanks - Lukas' post advising deleting cookies on the feedback website didn't resolve the issue for Brave which I recently switched to, but did for Google Chrome, so I went back to using Chrome and all is well. I upvoted the OP's feature request (but there is a duplicate version that seems to be getting votes too). Thanks again

Thanks Lukas!

Thanx Lukas, deleting cookies worked for me!
