StudioLive iii sx32 - is there any way to recover the files recorded if the Sd recording session was not saved and closed properly ?

studiolive III sx32.
yesterday i was doing FOH and recording the tracks to SD card.
suddenly, mid show, the mixer hang and was not responding and the screen was like blank with colorful snow.

i couldn't "save and close" the SD recording session and had to do a hard shoutdown and restart the mixer, quickly set up a new Sd recording session, load the next scene and get on with the show. the rest of the show and the recording went fine.

is there any way to recover the files recorded if the Sd recording session was not saved and closed properly ?

i can see the files but they are listed as 0 kbytes and does not play.

Not closing the session means that the file headers are not updated, even though the WAV data is stored on the card. Check with customer support if they can recommend a procedure to recover (some of) the files. Don't touch that card until they come back to you!

thank you switchback.

i did open 2 more recording sessions on that card during the show. i realy hope there is still a chance to recover
those files

Ah, that's not fantastic. A key question is if the aborted session registers as used space or as free space on that card. If it's the latter then the other 2 sessions will have overwritten the aborted one. Otherwise there is still hope.

when i started the new session, the time that was allready recorded was reduced from the overall available time for recording.

Still, a disk editor should see the used space too, as enough to cover all 3 sessions. You can calculate the disk space required for all 3 sessions from sample rate, number of recorded channels and overall recording time.

which disk editor ? windows explorer ? osx finder ? some third party software ? can you recomand one ?

I suggest you go with what customer support recommends. It will have to be an app that allows you to inspect and edit file headers, of WAV files in particular.

You can check the used space with your computer's file browser. As for the calculation:
File size is sample rate * bit depth / 8 * number of mono channels * time (in seconds).
Example: 48000 * 24/8 * 16 * 3600 = 8.29GB for 1 hour of 16 channels at 48kHz

indeed, when checking the 32 GB Sd card, there are only 5 GB of free space.
15 GB of data that i can acount for in the secondary recording folders.
and more then 10 GB that are there but not alocated.

so i guese the data is there just not indexed.
