Studio One Project question

Does anyone use Project Page for mastering?

Is it possible to export individual parts of a song as additional tracks to the project?

When I try to do this, the first track keeps updating...

Thanks for your advice.

Okay, thank you for reassuring me that it's possible. I'll ask someone else... 😂 but honestly, I don't know why you felt the need to respond to my question in this way.

Thank You.

It’s a user forum. Nobody is obliged to go into detail. He answered your question in a very clear polite manner.
You asked a second question but like me I only look at this forum once a week.

I need a better understanding of what you hope to accomplish. For example, is the goal to repeat the same section of a song within a project and master each repeat differently, or only use selected parts of a long file like a live performance but have each section be its own song, or...? If all you want to do is cut a longer file into individual tracks, just export the whole thing and cut at the individual tracks.

Or you could just duplicate the song in the project page (alt-drag on Windows) then edit and/or master it differently (I literally did this today!)

I have a song with a recording of solo violin sonatas, each with 3-4 parts (Moderato, Allegro, etc.), and I need to export these parts to Project.

Ah, that should be easy then (I often do a similar thing when I record a live jazz gig, mix it as one long song file, then cut it up on the project page). Just import the song into the project page, then you'll be able to right click on the track and split at cursor wherever needed.

Thank you all for your answers and suggestions, but unfortunately, what I needed is probably not possible. The thing is, the song is very extensive, three years of recording, and if the markers cannot be exported to the project, it is better for me to export individual movements and then put them together in the Project, because otherwise no one will be able to make sense of it.

The basic function of the Project page is to compile separate 'songs' and master them so they match as a whole, as is customary/required with albums. Arranging on the other hand (which is what you want to do) is usually done inside the song, and the Arranger Track is purposely added to Studio One for exactly that job. You can name and color sections and move them around and everything in your song will follow. In combination with Scratch Pads you can keep a copy of the unaltered material and then reshuffle your song inside the song itself. It's like having your cake and eat it too :)

I understand, but I don't want to arrange anything, I just thought that if Markers could also be exported to Song, it would help me better understand the number of files. But thank you for clarifying.

Ah, OK. Then probably something got lost in translation. Maybe you can rephrase what you want to achieve exactly.
I think he wants to have the different movements on the project page as separate tracks and have them play with no silence in between, like a progressive rock album.

The solution depends on how the original song was recorded. Do you have the whole thing on a single session or different ones? If it's the former then (on the song session, not on project) put a marker at the beginning of each movement and one at the end and when you export the mixdown make sure the "Between Markers" option on the top right of the export dialog is enabled. Drag the resulting files to the project page and then you need to set the silence between each one to zero, which can be done but I don't remember how to, sorry.

It would be cool then to have multiple active master files from a single song, as: start to marker 1, marker 1 to marker 2, etc. Hmm...
