Studio One - Large Collection of Sounds - Precache Directory?

Hello all, I am using Studio One Pro 7 and love it but I have one issue that keeps me going back to Ableton or Bitwig and its this...

I have a very large sample / sound collection and when looking for sounds in Studio One in the Files tab the search results take a while to load, if its a common term such as "Kick" it can take upto 20 seconds to load the results and show the files, I am using a fast m.2 SSD that is working fine and trimmed for performance.

I can use an external sample manager such as Sononym and that obviously helps but I would prefer not to as it makes the workflow clunky, is there an option or setting I am missing or a workaround to prescan / cache the files in my library?

Hope that all makes sense.

Thanks in advance, Spencer

I too - have a massive sample collection but have no idea how scanning/cataloguing works in the S1 File browser and I ma not aware of any way to adjust this - except to say - whatever it does do right now - it is pedestrian at best. Hence the reason I do not use it.

Over here - it's ADSR Sample Manager for the win. Fast, furious AND I can drag my entire collection into any S1 song because ADSR is also a VST3 plugin. No clunk. No waiting on searches and no needing File Browser. And did I mention it's free?

Yes - the S1 File Browser is in a sad state when it comes to this sort of thing - but then again - it is called File Browser - that is about all you can do with it until Presonus finally gets around to a very long overdue update to this area of the program.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.

I bought Sononym browser, it has a few more features than ADSR but it was $99 and is standalone only.

Its such a shame as I love the look of the UI, stock plugins, workflow etc but its just unusable with the internal file browser and it feels clunky and alien to me to use Sononym on the second monitor.

I truly hope they implement at least a caching system in a near future update as I am ready to leave Ableton and Bitwig behind but can't.
