Record Arp individual notes

coro

Active member
hey all,
is there a specific setting in SP8 for recording individual notes from the apreggiator instead of the chord displayed in the pic?

I've 2 clues:

- when I used the Launchkey's MK4 arpeggiator, SP8 was recording individual notes.

- I've been told by Steve himself (creator of Serum) that Serum2 is capable to output individual notes by setting MIDI OUT to On.

however in this pic I had MIDI OUT set to On in Serum but SP8 was recording the chord

Ps: I already know how to route MIDI to another track but I'd love to know if there's a way to avoid that and just do it within Serum.

Thanks!!

If I'm not mistaken the instrument track records whatever is on the input (or whatever you draw on the piano roll), so I don't think what you want is possible. Two tracks is the only way as far as I know.

Yes, Studio One/Pro records any MIDI that's received from the input. So if your instrument plug-in can output MIDI (there are a few that can do this), then this can be used as an input. But since you can't playback and record on the same track at the same time, you need the additional track workaround:

- First track sends MIDI data to instrument
- Second track receives from the instrument and records to the track

For this to work, make sure to have Monitor enabled for both tracks.

Thanks Chicho & Lukas

I've actually tried yesterday (haven't done that in a long while and last time I did that was when I was using Logic) but somehow I couldn't make it work.
I'll see if there's a tutorial and post it back here for future users

lol, that was the one XD
thanks Lukas <3
