question about sound

Hiya,

I want to buy the Keeley Darkside V2, The Gilmour pedal.
Is it possible to connect this to Studio One 6 Artist and what Amp do I have to use to create a good sound that creates the sound Gilmour uses.

If it's not the case, what amp would I have to buy?

I hope someone can help me.

greets

I have the Presonus audiobox USB 96

Btw, my amp is the Combo Rathamp 30 W, a pretty bluesy sound, so I think thats why I don't get the right sound with it.

Well, all I can tell you is what I would do :). I assume the Keeley Darkside puts out the same kind of level as a guitar, so plug it into the Instrument jack.

As to Gilmour's sound, here's a link to an article about how David Gilmour gets his sound. It's a complex setup! But, do you want to sound like David Gilmour, or sound like yourself, but with a similar tone? With an amp, you'll have a limited number of sounds, and you also need a microphone or microphones to record it. I'd recommend using an amp sim instead. There are many amp sims availablee, including free "starter" collections from IK Multimedia and Native Instruments, a free GTR sim from Waves, and plenty of others - just search on "free VST amp sims" or whatever.

Pick the amp that comes closest to the sound you want. Then, use Studio One's stock plugins (mostly EQ, reverb, and delay) to polish the sound into something that resembles Glmour's long, languid leads. You will learn much about amp sims and plugins as you try out different settings to try and get Gilmour's tone. I hope this helps!

Okay, let me get it straight.
Plug my guitar in Keeley dark Side V2 , plug it into the Presonus audiobox and use Free amp sims. (for at home)?

Yes. Insert the amp sims into a channel's insert rack, and go crazy :) BTW I do recommend inserting EQ both before and after an amp sim. You can tailor the sound pretty much any way you want. Also, be careful not to turn up the drive controls too much. I've seen many guitar players who get started with amp sims using super-distorted sounds. Sometimes pulling back gives better articulation.

And if the software on my computer has EQ, is that also good?
I may ask too much, guess it's because it's in English I need too.

Yes, the Pro EQ in Studio One is excellent.

I'm always glad to help. We're all just trying to figure out all this technology together! I'm glad there's a forum where we can do it.

Allright thanks, so Ive got one last one for now.
I know the Marshall jcm 800 is there, but what are the other amps, since they are all called different?

Quoting from an old SoS article:
the VC30 is a Vox AC30, the Blackface Twin is a Fender Twin, the Dual Amplifier is a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier and the Amp STV is an Ampeg SVT bass amp.
