Preparing for export to scoring program (Dorico/ Sibelius)

Hi!
I'm a new member here but a long time Studio One user, since v.2. I'm a jazzmusician (saxes), composer, producer and working as sound engineer for many years.
I discovered S1 when Apple Waveburner was discontinued. First I used S1 for burning rebook CD's or DDP masters, but later selected S1 as main DAW, moved from PT.
I like writing/ arranging in S1 or other DAW. My problem is when exporting to Dorico/Sibelius for making scores. (Notion is great for quick cue sheets, but unfortunately not really an alternative for professional scores). I work with professional musicians and great scores is key for an effective session/ rehearsal/ concert.

My workflow has been exporting from S1 to Notion, then export XML to be imported in Dorico. On the paper ok workaround, but in real life a nightmare. Even with all notes quantised and not overlapping when importing in Dorico/Sibelius/Finale... it's a mess with strange noteheads and tuples like 7/5, or writing triplets is a nightmare when arriving in Dorico..
It takes too long time, just to be ready to start with the supposed formatting of the score.

How are your workflows for this? (I'm thinking Lukas might do it? :-) )

I have been checking at Cubase with the connection to Dorico. On this thing It's fantastic but I miss the workflow and simple layout in Studio One, it's fast working with.

A better export (export clean music XML from S1?) or include Notion in Studio One would be a great move.

Best regards, Pelle Fridell

This is excellent hunting ground for AI, to turn live performances into clean scores. The great thing with scores is that you can/should quantise a live performance to death for readability. It's only a guideline anyway ;)
