My problem is simple to explain, but no matter how much I search the internet and ask different AIs, I can't solve it. This happens EXCLUSIVELY in Studio One, regardless of the version. I don't have this problem in other DAWs like Reaper, but I've been using Studio One for years. It's my favorite DAW, and I refuse to abandon it, so I need to solve this with all my heart.
Basically, I want the "Note Controller" (Polyphonic Aftertouch) curve to start at 0 or off when I start recording, rather than 127 or on. As you can see in the image, the curve starts at the top and mutes the note I played (in my case, a Roland cymbal).
Background: I use Studio One 6 and have a Roland TD-11K electronic drum kit connected via MIDI to use with various VST. When I start recording in Studio One and perform a "Cymbal Choke," a "Note Controller" or Poly Aftertouch curve is automatically generated. This curve corresponds to the cymbal choke, that is, stopping the sound of the cymbal with your hands after hitting it. As you can see, this curve starts at the top and only drops when you release the cymbal. This makes the first hit sound completely muted, because the curve is at its maximum value. Once the curve drops (because I released the cymbal), subsequent cymbal chokes begin to function normally, meaning the cymbal sounds normal and only cuts out when you make the choke (because the curve goes up and down). This is the behavior it should have from the start, but it doesn't.
As an additional note, the cymbal choke works perfectly for me in other contexts: when playing with the module itself, when playing in any VST in its Standalone mode, in other DAWs, and even within Studio One, they work flawlessly. The problem appears WHEN RECORDING in Studio One. The curve starts higher, always, in every recording I start.
I could simply choke all the cymbals in every recording I start (to lower the curve), but more people come to record in my studio, and this is very, very annoying.
Does anyone know how I could fix this?
