Solved Nektar Impact LX88+ knobs shows up as Control link destinations, not sources

I've attached screenshots as well to try to explain this.

I have a weird situation with my Nektar Impact LX88+ keyboard. I have set it up as an external device as instructed. The basic keyboard functions work quite fine, but the faders and knobs and transport controls are messed up.

I have also installed the official Nektar setup for Fender Studio Pro.

A NOTE: Briefly, in Studio One 6.5, the transport buttons, knobs and faders did function correctly as one would expect.

Long story short, all the faders and knobs function as Control link automation destinations, not as automation sources. I'm baffled, and I'm not able to setup this controller in any other way. No matter how many times I reset, install, uninstall and setup the device, it always ends up the same.

In the external device MIDI learn section, FSP also doesn't recognize the faders, buttons and knobs at all.

Does someone understand what is the underlying root cause here and how could I possible fix this?

I used to have an LX49+ and now have a T4, so I'll give you my perspective.

I have no idea if anything has changed with the switch to Fender Studio Pro, since I'm still on S1 6.6.4. I'm assuming nothing would have changed, but that is a question I have for anyone else who has a Nektar keyboard and has tried Studio Pro 8. Hopefully others will chime in.

Assuming nothing has changed with SP8, because Nektar and Presonus worked together to create a dedicated integration between Nektar's keyboards and Studio One, you shouldn't have to manually configure things with Control Link to get it working. I don't remember what the exact order is, but if you follow the instructions from Nektar for installing their integration app and setting the keyboard up as two external devices (keyboard and controller), it should simply work.

I see in your screenshot that for the controller device, the Send To port is "Not connected" in the device list view and "None" in the Edit Device dialog. Send To has to be "MIDIOUT2 (Impact LX88+)" in order for the controller device to work. If the Edit Device dialog allows you to select that from the drop-down menu, do that and save the changes. After that, it should work. If you can't select "MIDIOUT2 (Impact LX88+)" in the Send To drop-down menu, you may need to remove that device and start over.

Hope this helps!

Are others successfully using their Nektar keyboards with SP8?

Nektar GX61 here - works perfectly in FSP8/8.01. No change from S1.

I tried the suggestions and even reinstalled the Nektar integration (taken from Nektar site).... and it made it worse. The Nektar folder went missing completely from the vendor folder list that enables the integration functions.

Here's an article from Nektar explaining why the installation doesn't show for FSP8.

That's not an actual problem, because the installation can just be copied from the user device folder of the previous S1 version.

Luckily I had the 6.5 installed as well. Now that I copied the Nektar integration from that to FSP8, the knobs now started to function as a control link source, and the transport functions as well.

So, I wasn't crazy afterall. The Studio One 7 installer from Nektar clearly had a bad file in it, and that caused all the problems. And I did remember correctly, that all was fine in 6.5.

So, this case is now solved.
