Dear, I have an Alesis Strike. When I use it via USB MIDI, the signal goes to Studio One 6. I use a VST, but it doesn't work. Why? It's as if the signal isn't outputting. Can you give me the Studio One instructions for using a drum machine and a MIDI VST?

Although S1 will see I coming midi signals, you'll have to instruct it what to do with those signals.

this video explains it in more detail.

With the Drum machine connected and powered up does it show in settings as a device. You have to set that up first. Im learning that Studio one sometimes doesn’t recognize USB midi devices.

You’re not supplying much information.?
As I said does it show in settings as a connected device? That is the first step. The video is very clear about what you need to do to get it connected.
An important part of this is choosing all midi channels or sometimes we only want one.

The next step is choosing it as the input to the instrument track.
Next step is choosing the correct midi channel or all of them.
Then you will need a drum map if the drum machine is assigned none GM numbers.
Often this is where you need to read the manual for the drum machine to set it up correctly.
Then you might want the drum machine to sync to Studio one’s Clock which is what I like to do but that was a different Daw so I’d have to look that up .
Im sure there’s plenty of tutorials on the subject. And the user manual must have this as well.
I find asking questions in your browser( Google ) often provides an instant answer and leads you to videos and articles.
