MIDI Assign issue

First post here for me.

I have a midi assign issue. I play VST guitars and have Amplitube5 for amps, pedals, etc

I am unable to assign my expression pedal or on/off pedal to anything in Amplitube in S1. I think I have it set up in a conventional way. Amplitube is an insert. I also have Bitwig and that works in multiple ways with no fuss with the same keyboard and pedals

It seems as though Studio One can not focus on the keyboard when using inserts..only with the VST itself? That works if I want to assign some pedal or knob within the guitar vst itself. This surely cant be true?

Anyone know of a way to make this work. I like to midi assign using the plug ins if possible. In Bitwig I just right click on the rocker pedal and hit midi learn and then move the actual pedal and I;m good to go. In Studio One I get the screen but Amplitube doesn't see a signal I guess. If I move the pedal, Studio One registers the movement in 'control link' (I think that is what it is called)

Hi thanks for getting back to me. I've decided my external devices are properly set up so did a deep google search into this issue and found my precise issue here with a way to make things work that is far more complex than it should be --->

As it turns out the video is a guy playing a real guitar, not a VST guitar and this way wouldn't work for VST guitars. I reached out to Presonus and they responded with (We don't know how every third party plug in might work). and they gave me a link to a Control Link vid. The problem is this doesn't work universally when you are trying to use real pedals with inserts (seems absurd). I also have Ampire and Pedalboard which are Presonus instruments and those don't work either. I let them know that. I guess not many people are using pedals in Studio One with inserts. I'm talking about using pedals when playing music live/jamming
 
Please define "I play VST guitars"...
Do you mean you're using your Nektar Panorama t6 for input and control of Amplitude 5?
