Marker Import Regression – No Support for BWF / iXML / EDL in Studio One 7

Hi everyone,

In Studio One 7, marker import from standard professional formats seems to have been removed.

At the moment, Studio One only imports markers from its own .song MIDI exports.
It no longer recognizes Broadcast Wave (BWF) cue markers, iXML <MARKERS> blocks,
or CMX3600 EDL lists — all of which worked in earlier versions.

I’ve confirmed this with Presonus Support (case number available) and posted an official feature
request here: https://feedback-software.presonus.com/feedback/245252

If you also work with film, classical, or collaborative audio workflows where markers matter,
please upvote the request and share your experience.

We’ve prepared test media (BWF, iXML, EDL) that demonstrates the issue — happy to share
if anyone wants to verify on their system.

Good question — marker import from BWF cue data and CSV definitely worked in the Studio One 4 and 5 era, and some users reported partial functionality still in v6.0–6.2 before it quietly disappeared.

Earlier versions could read Broadcast Wave cue markers embedded by other DAWs (Audition, Reaper, Nuendo, etc.) and automatically place them on the timeline at absolute time. CSV marker import also existed as a separate menu option.

By Studio One 7, both of those paths are gone — the only remaining way to move markers is through a MIDI export from another Studio One song, which breaks interoperability with other DAWs.

So it’s not a “new feature request” per se — it’s restoring a previously supported workflow that’s essential for post and classical recording work.

Are you sure you don't confuse this with another DAW? Studio One did not have CSV marker import. Can you please show a screenshot of the separate menu option in Studio One 5 you mention?

The only way to import markers I'm aware of is the import function included in the Scoring Tools scripting add-on.
