Solved Is this MPE ?

Is this MPE?

The midi editor is showing a bunch of waves in the "Pressure" type under "Note Controller"
tab.
I'm not getting anything in the After Touch tab even tho I pressed down on the keys. Used to get AT.
My keyboard is NI Kontrol S61 mk3 and MPE is disabled.

MPE is messing up Edit/"Move to Cursor" which I use all the time while editing midi.

Is there some way to turn off MPE in SO? Only place I see it is in Studio One/Options/External Devices/Komplete Kontrol S where there's a check box to enable MPE.
It is not checked.

Studio One 7.1.1
Windows 11
RME UCX

Thanks

There used to be an MPE switch on the Vsti gui itself, check in the header of the instrument, Its a drop menu top left hand area.

Maybe that will sort it, other than that the "..." to the left of velocity click and remove that lane.

Regards,

"Note Controller" messages are indeed MPE, as in it's where all per-note CCs are collected, but what you are seeing is just poly aftertouch.

Unfortunately no, there is no way to disable (or filter) those messages at the S1 level. If a controller sends them, S1 records them. And, unlike the reply above suggested, you CANNOT hide the damn "Note Controller" tab, not even if it's empty, same as with other tabs like "lyrics." No idea why we just didn't get a pane on the left with a list of lane types that have data in them, and a check box next to them to show/hide.

When using actual MPE with most MPE controllers (such as an Osmose) you get a bunch of other useless tabs too, but at least those you can hide. Cherry on top is that MPE editing and playback in S1 still has some serious bugs - it will not work reproducibly in many cases.

Anyhow, since you don't need PolyAT you can disable it from your Kontrol S, so that data will not be sent at all. Press "Settings MIDI" and then hardware, go to "keybed" with the buttons at the top, use the encoder to change "Aftertouch Polyphonic" to "Off" or "Aftertouch Monophonic" (which you can filter). Save as a MIDI template if you want, done.

Having never tried to remove any of the lanes you refer to, I made an assumption that they could be removed. Thank you for pointing that out.
I had always assumed that was the purpose of offereing them in the left hand payne of that pop out. Bizzare to even include them if they are locked?

Kind regards

It is a fair assumption, but Note Controller, Sound Variation, Lyrics, etc. do not show up as an option to add/remove in the dialog. No idea why, it just seems like an oversight. Hopefully in an upcoming update the MIDI editor will get a bit of a polish pass.

Thank you! Turning off Poly Aftertouch solved it.

I should have suspected some keyboard setting since I upgraded Kontrol S to mk3 recently and the problem popped up soon thereafter.
