Solved Improper tempo when recording near tempo change

See the attached pic: I've been recording a bassline starting on a bar where there is a tempo change from 110 to 114.

For a while this was working fine, but all of a sudden my recording plays back at the wrong speed (too fast). As I've seen this before I examine the 'File Tempo' of the clip and see that is 110 instead of 114. If I change it to 114 it plays back fine. If I record another take, same thing.

The fact that this was working fine for 10 minutes or so and then went awry I can't explain.

I had pre-roll on and thought perhaps that's why it might be getting confused (the bar before the recording is indeed at 110 tempo), so I turned it off but it didn't change anything.

If I start recording from MUCH earlier (and go through several tempo changes) it does playback fine and the File Tempo shows 'Map'.

Bug or am I misunderstanding something?

Did you have Timestretch enabled for that track? If yes then try recording with the track set to Don't Follow to see if the problems go away. I'd always record with armed tracks set to Don't Follow because the track will inherit the song's tempo track map anyway, and Don't Follow prevents 'trying to follow' weirdness. After recording you can switch to Timestretch (which should make no difference fo playback).

Yes, I did - I'm guessing that's the default.

Turning it to Don't Follow works, thanks.

Or you can use Follow, just not Timestretch. Follow is the default for new tracks when 'Stretch audio files to Song tempo' isn't checked in Song Setup.

Don't follow has the start of events locked in time wrt. the start of the song. Follow has the start of events locked to the grid so changing song tempo will move the start of events too, but no stretching. Timestretch follows & stretches.

Thanks. You just explained why one of my tracks was shifting in time.
