How is it, I just purchased a Studio Pro 8 Upgrade from Studio One 7.2.3 today, and I have "Your licence no longer includes feature updates"

As described in the subject. It's a perpetual version purchased just today. What's up with that? Shouldn't it include one year of feature updates?

Hiya Lokeyfly

That's an Awkward bit of wording...
The catch phrase being "feature updates", as opposed to "maintenance updates", pity, they really could do better and clarify that detail.
They need you on the life support subscription model. Hey ho such is life.

Kindest regards.

Ah yes, same here. Fender have reached into my machine and taken something away......

I'm sure VocalPoint will be along shortly to tell us that this is what we signed up to, and if we don't like it..........etc

Very true. I'm good with the nuts and bolts when assisting with the DAW, but as to corporare takeovers, and purchase policies, I tend to keep my widdle mouf shut. 😀

Ahhh, sweet Fender.........

Yes, sorry, my spellchecker pulled a Fender on me. ; )

You are not alone, I had a similar take and had to re-read it a couple of times. It would be useful to have a statement letting folk know what we get
rather than what we don't get, re the perpetual upgrade.

This does raise an interesting opportunity to ask the sales department, at this point in time, the question.
We are now part way into the life cycle of FSP8 at what point will your maintenance updates stop?
Someone may already know, maybe they could comment if reading this.

Kindest regards

Following Fender Studio Pro 8.2.3, FSP9 should be released relatively soon...

I have no clue what most of the responses mean.

By law, a (license) contract can't be changed/cancelled by one side. A contract is not a PR statement that don't mean anything. There're only two explanations:
1. Our understanding of the contract is wrong which might suggest deceit on Fender's part.
2. It's another bug in their bug-riddled backend/server system.

The definitive answer is within your account at MyFender. I have two profiles there as I have two separate licences for FSP - one ran out of updates at v8.0.3, the other has updates until the end of May 2027.

This is the text that describes my status with the version that ran out of updates:

And this is the text that references the version that continues to receive feature updates:

Well - I am part of the fun as well...

But when I go to my Fender account...

The great "contradiction" stops by.

There is something going on for sure. Will log a ticket

Received an update from Support:

"The extended support date is your true date. You will get all updates until January 2027"

AKA - whatever it says in your MyFender account.

They are looking into the text on the About box. If I get an update - I will share it here.

Cheers

Agree. Likely, the latter. I'm merely questioning what I see, and glad you guys are bolstering my curiosity.
As to the upgrade, I'm positive, with the easy install, as its always been that way.
I'll mention expectations on some other go around.

Seems to simply be a mere oversight.

My suggestion to the about the Fender Pro detail screen would be:

"XXX days remaing with your license.
At which time, your license will no longer include feature updates."

BTW, the counter is a nice touch. Just fix the message, in the next update. Thank you. 🌹

The "problem" with including any of this goofy "timeout messaging" in the UI related to one's Annual Updates - is this oddball fact....

Let's say - it's me - and let's say - I am running Studio Pro v8.3.0 exactly ON my plan end date - Jan 12, 2027.

And then a maintenance release (v8.3.1) drops two days later (Jan 14, 2027) - I would be eligible for this release as well.

While "Feature" releases do end for me on Jan 12, 2027 - "maintenance" releases do not.

Making this specific phrase for all us "perpetual" types in our MyFender accounts "Eligible for ALL updates to XXX XX, XXXX" even more confusing than it already is.

My suggestion...🥴
Might it be easier to just have your Registration Date and "Please see your Fender account for licence details" or some similar wording in the about splash screen ? They could even embed a web link to the Fender log in page, if they think it might help folk if they need to check.
One place with one set of information.

Kindest regards

Great points you guys. That, given the variables. The whole thing is best to likely they provide a link that be available to all. Even at the same location. Bearing in mind, the clientele are mostly musicians, production minded specialists, and assorted.
We want general, easy to understand info.
The general extra days issues will always be waved to some degree. I think they're largely understanding that we want to get on with the music/work at hand.
