Controlling Studio One with Avid S1's and Dock

Hello,

About 18 months ago, I tried setting up my avid hardware to control Studio One, but it was not completely stable. I used this video as a guide:

Currently I use the App and a Faderport 2018 to control Studio One Pro 7.

With new updates from Presonus and Avid over the past year I was hoping it might be possible now.

Any ideas or work around would be great. (I only have so much space on my mix desk and adding an 8 or 16 Faderport would not work.

I found a work around where I can still do what I need. Not everything, but it is good enough, and I do not have to move gear around on my desk now.

Once I got things setup assigning the two Avid S1 controllers as Mackie 'extenders' and assigned each controller to the same group, I can now have 17 stable faders. I can not bank, so If I need to access more software faders on the physical faders, I just have to hide tracks in Studio One and the physical faders populate with the first 17 tracks inside Studio One. I can use solo, mute, pan and ride the faders of course.

With Eucon, I can actually assign the Dock fader to be my master controller. I can use my Faderport 2018 for play, stop, etvc, and any other track, scroll or toggle. And mt tablet which is docked in teh Avid Dock has thr Studio One App and the Avd Control App. Switching between daws appears to be smooth so far.

Kind of cool having the faders set to the first 16 tracks, like a real console, where each track is just that track, and thats it. I might change up a template just for this now.

I will test out some other settings later but as least I can start working much easier in Studio One.

Here are the two other videos I referecned:

Nice unit! A little dissapainting that you cant change banks at the moment. Sounds like you're covered though with the Eucon and FP. I figured banks would play nice. Even using HUI, they typically do. Anyway, enjoy!

Thank you, this round of trying went better than before. When I tried the Mackie option that is the 'console/controller' My S1's would not respond and sometimes just switch tracks. Now I feel I something stable that works solid and I can just focus on music. Also when I switch Daw's Eucon switches well also.

Thanks for reviewing my post! Jeff
