Solved Can you open S6 or S7 Songs in S5?

I know you're not supposed to be able to open Songs in retro versions, but I wondered if anyone's ever figured out a workaround? Is there maybe metadata in the S7 Song file that can copied into an S5 Song file?

Thanks...

I've never come across a way. Of course, it wasn't like ai felt I had to. I dont believe changing metadata would do it.

What is it, you're exactly looking to do? Exchange songs back and forth with some other user?

I am Interested in this also. I have a friend that is on version 6 and I am on version 7. So far it hasn't been an issue
but it certainly could become one the more we exchange files 🥁 🎸 🖖

Sure, Studio One Toolbox can convert Studio One songs to previous file format versions.

Drag a Studio One 7 song file onto the website and you can convert & download it as a v6 file. For example, you can convert the v7 demo song and open it in Studio One 6. Works with v6 and v5, too.

Disclaimer: This depends very much on the features used in the song and should only be used - as you say - as an workaround and with caution. It can lead to unexpected behaviour if certain features are used that are not available in older versions.

Thanks everyone, ended up upgrading the S5 so the problem went away. I was going to eventually delete the post but Lukas' answer might come in handy for others.
That was helpful :)(y)
