Solved Cache Files

I just took notice that my latest project was over 5 gb total, which is unusually large. I checked the folders and found that the Audio subfolder folder in the Cache folder is over 3 gb. The files are snippets of audio information (like vocal takes, I guess) and are labeled with @*% characters. What are these files and is it OK to delete the contents of this folder without damaging the project? I store my completed projects on OneDrive and I'm afraid I'll go over my limit with folders this size.

Thanks

Yes, you can delete the entire cache folder. The only drawback is that on opening the song it will take your computer a little longer to finish reconstructing everything it still used from the cache folder from the files in the pool. Watch the Cache Activity meter at the bottom of the screen to see when it's done. Don't close the song before then.

The mild form of cleanup is to Cleanup Cache, an option you get when clicking on the Disc Performance meter and then on the wrench. It will only delete the files no longer in use from the Cache/Audio subfolder.

NB. The way I understand what those audio files are: Every time your edits require a change to the original audio files those edit 'instructions' are saved in the .song file and then applied to the original files to create new audio files in the cache. So your edits will leave a trail of obsolete cache files with every new change to the audio files. When you delete the Cache folder then next time the song opens the edit instructions saved in the .song file will be applied to the original files to recreate only what's actually in use.

Thanks. Earlier, I deleted that folder and went to launch the project and it loaded fine, so that's how you say it is. It saved the current configuration. Thanks again.
