Audio events pitch envelope

hello!

is there a way to draw the pitch envelope of a given audio event the same way we can with the amazing gain envelope?

or if you have any idea for a workaround? (without importing the audio into SampleOne which is what' I'm currently doing but was wondering if it's possible right in the event.

Thank you!

Similar to Gain Envelope? No, unfortunately not.

And I doubt it will happen, because pitch changes require audio file changes where level changes don't. So this would be completely different from envelope features already available in Studio One.

...there is no pitch envelope in Studio One.

So no, you need a plug-in for that. The only way to do pitch automation out of the box is by automating tempo and setting the "Timestretch" mode of the track to "Tape".

Would be nice, but no. Sample One is also my workaround, which can use automation of the pitch wheel. But that would be it where pitch automation is concerned.

Ampire's Pitch Shfiter is decent for a limited number of applications, works in real time, and pitch changes can be automated. Of course, the greater the pitch shift, the worse the fidelity.

As to plugins, the Line 6 Helix Native Pitch Wham shifter for monophonic audio is very good, and you don't have the latency issues of Waves' SoundShifter (which has excellent fidelity, but is unuseable for real time playing IMO). Even better, the Helix Native Poly Wham shifter does real-time pitch shifting for polyphonic audio. You can automate the amount of Pitch Wham or Poly Wham pitch shift. My preferred technique is to automate them using real-time control, then smooth out the automation curves if needed.

(I might also add that if you're going to go the plugin route, Helix Native is good for much more than just guitar. Some of the specialty reverbs are amazing for vocals, and the modulation effects are excellent for keyboards. And no, I don't get a commission LOL. I just think it's underrated as a plugin because people think it's useful only for guitar and bass, and for reasons I don't understand, that's how Line 6 markets it.)

Sounds good Craig. I wouldn't have even thought of the Ampire pitch pedal, as I never use Ampire, but good to know. I'll try it.
Are these 3rd party pitch shifters fully pitch variable, or only chromatic? I believe the line 6 is just chromatic, but I'm not sure. I'm assuming from the OP's mention of drawing as in a gain envelope, that pitch actually bends.

Fully variable, but there's also another transposition effect that's chromatic - basically a digital capo.

Ah, nice! So besides the capo pitch change, there's also a pitch bend parameter. Thanks for that.

thank you all for your inputs! <3

totally fine to use a plugin then: Elastique Pitch V2 has always been my go to but I'll also try Ampire pitch pedal as well.

FYI the maximum range for Poly Pitch and Poly Wham is ±24 semitones, Poly Capo is ±12 semitones. As expected, more transposition means lower fidelity.

I think you'll find Elastique Pitch V2 has better fidelity. The Ampire pitch pedal is designed to provide the whammy bar "dive bomb" special effect, where the pitch drops waaaaay down.

Yes. Typically, I'll look to 3, 5 or 7 semitones for any pitch changes. Studio One is very forgiving.

Likey, likey....😛 I might use that sooner than expected.

yup, tho I work in game audio and having weird pitch drops/rasies could be a thing now and then, so it's cool to have another tool :)
