Solved Any Behringer MS-1 users? Stopping S1 triggering sequencer

I recently picked up a Behringer MS-1 which is hooked up via MIDI to my Focusrite 18i20.
Whenever I press play in Studio One the internal sequencer in the MS-1 also starts - Anyone know how to stop this happening?
There seems to be no way of disabling the sequencer in the MS-1 itself.
Is there something in Studio One Preferences I'm missing?

I don't have the MS-1, but the only thing I can imagine are the settings in the MIDI instrument configuration:

Yes, post a screenshot of your external device settings in Studio One...

Hi,
Sorry for the long delay. It was frustrating me so much I decided I was going to sell the MS-1 but I've given it a temporary reprieve to see if I can get this fixed. However, I'm not holding out a lot of hope. I've tried seemingly everything but no matter what, the sequencer starts every time.

Settings as below for the MS-1.

You have setup your external devices incorrectly. Firstly you say you are connecting it via MIDI. Is it the 5 pin MIDI connection or USB?

The MS-1 Instrument should only have SEND TO connected to Scarlett MIDI not USB as shown. RECIEVE FROM should be set to NONE. The Keystation PRO Keyboard should also only RECEIVE FROM and SEND TO should be NONE. Keystation is also connected to your computer if USB is used not Scarlett. Or it should set to RECEIVE FROM Scarlett Midi.

Try getting this correct first and it might work as expected.

Hi

The Keystation 88 is connected only via 5 pin MIDI into the Scarlett 18i20 MIDI in port (it is not connected via USB to anything).
The MS-1 is connected via a 5 pin MIDI cable from the Scarlett 18i20 MIDI out port, as are the other synths (Virus + JD990), all via 1x4 MIDI splitter box.

The only option to select from either the Receive From or Send To dropdowns is "Scarlett 18i20 USB" - there is nothing else to choose apart from None

I would add that I don't have any issues with the Virus or JD990. The MS-1 also plays fine from the Keystation 88, it's only the sequencer starting that's the issue.

Ok then still set the MS-1 to SEND TO Only and set it to Scarlett USB then. (That is weird though. I used to have the same Scarlett interface and it was always Scarlett Midi) RECEIVE FROM should still be NONE though. You do NOT use SEND TO and RECEIVE FROM with the same external device. The only thing you do that with is a controller like Faderport 8 for example.

The others should also be set that way too. Many get this wrong. They don't read the instructions correctly in the manual on this.

I have got a Behringer Odyssey and it too has a sequencer but it never starts up though from Studio One.

So the issue is finally resolved!!
Because I only ever record one synth at a time, they're all set on Channel 1 and the Virus had Midi Clock Start ticked. Even though there was no instrument track for the Virus in the song, it appears that was causing the MS-1 sequencer to trigger.
Thank heaven for that.
Thanks for your help. Appreciated.

That is great news. I would still go through and recheck and maybe re do the External device settings. For instruments and Keyboards (your controller) only one source/destination is usually checked and the other set to none.
