Solved Weird behavior involving crash and corrupted .song files

music project

New member
for some time now i experianced SO 7 freezing, the audio keeps playing until two things happen :

SO crashes, the audio stops and my imac goes to the log in screen
OR my i mac restarts.

i investigated further and the problem is not a specific plugin, i even reset my imac and installed everything from scratch but the problem persisted !

the solution was as simple as saving the song with a new name. ie "save as".

this happened on a couple of songs with no pattern or common cause that i can think of.

i also tried using a different external SSD and even a different usb cable.

did anyone experienced something like this or similar ?

system : Imac 2020 intel i9 running Studio one 7.0.2 on osx ventura. StudioLive series iii 32sx

Are you running the latest SIII firmware?

Are you using an external monitor?

I'm not having those issues using Studio One Pro 7.0.2 with my computer (see specs in my signature) and SIII 32.
Have you submitted a Support Ticket (see link in my signature) yet? If not, I'd recommend doing that for help with this issue.

SOLVED !
after opening a ticket and some back and forth between me and presonus support it turned out to be the "enable hardware accelerated graphics" option in the preferences.
something about metal framework graphics used in studio one and\or some plugins gui didn't sit well with my intel imac.
i guess somewhere along the way in one of the updates something was changed regarding the GUI and metal framework in studio one.

after unticking and disabling hardware accelerated graphics there where no more glitches, freezing or crashing.

I’ve been trying to track a weird bug down in my system and i was fairly convinced it is the multiple monitors doing it. Now I’ll futz around with the enable graphics hardware option. Thanks for posting the solution.
