Solved Waiting for plug-in scan process...

Help! I have been using S1 for years and never had this problem. All of a sudden today my laptop never gets past this message...

Waiting for plugi-in scan process...

The Skip and Disable buttons do nothing. I can only "X" the window out and then only get the standard Presonus instruments.

I used S1 yesterday with no problem. Nothing has changed on the laptop and now this ☹️

What happened?

I should say that I'm on S1 V 6.61.99821 on a Dell laptop. I guess we don't have signatures with that info here

What? I had no idea that I had to be logged in to the internet to have Studio One be able to scan all the plugins. I logged in to the Wi-Fi and it worked fine. I know I have used my laptop offline many times and never had this problem. So, now I logged in and it scans all the plugins just fine. So, am I crazy to think that I was able to use this laptop offline and have it scan all the plugins?

I am running Studio One V7 on a Mac Studio Which is offline most of the time. My machine boots up and scans all plugins just fine in a second or so while offline. You do not have to be on line for a boot-up plugin scan to occur. Of course you can disable plugin scanning on boot-up also.

Glad to that your setup scans plugins without internet Jemusic. I wonder why now I have to be logged in to the internet, all of a sudden. I am traveling and don't always have internet. What to do? Is there a setting that got changed?

I just tried offline with version 7.0.2 all working as Intended here.

OK Trucky, thanks for the pointer. I had not done that yet since moving from the old S1 forum to this new one.

So yesterday S1 could not scan plugins but today it is working normally. I have no idea why it was not working yesterday and now working correctly today. Oh well, as long as it keeps working I'm happy.

Unfortunately, last night and this morning my laptop again needed to be logged in to the internet for S1 to scan external plugins. Otherwise, only Presonus standard tools are available. The problem seems to come and go. So what is going on? Anyone have a clue about this? Has this ever happened to anyone? So, this morning I updated to the latest version of Studio One Pro.... Version 6.64.102451. It still has the same issue after the update.

Are you running Subscription? or Perpetual licensing?

VP

Perpetual license, ever since version 4

Perpetual license, ever since version 4

All I can think of is that something else on that device needs wi-fi and it simply appears that S1 does.

Just tested my 7.02 layout and yanked the cable out of the wall and my scan works.

NOW - do you have any plugins that need network access to check licensing - cloud based stuff?

VP

I don't have any cloud-based instruments. The last instrument that I installed a few days ago was the SWAM solo violin V3. I also have other SWAM instruments (installed long ago) and have never had this problem. That said, now that I think about it, even though the V3 SWAM instruments require internet access for authorization only, the new "Ambiente Room Simulator" which is part of the SWAM 3.8 update appears to require internet availability. This could be the cause of the issue I'm having, but not sure. See below for what it says on the AudioModeling website.....

Why Do SWAM Instruments Need to Use the Local Network?

Enhanced Connectivity

With the introduction of SWAM String Sections and the subsequent update 3.8 for SWAM Solo Instruments, all products now feature the Ambiente Room Simulator. This powerful tool, although appearing as a standalone component within each plugin, communicates with other plugin instances across the local network. This inter-plugin communication allows for synchronized operations and settings across all instances, saving time, reducing errors, and ensuring consistent results across your projects.

Not saying "cloud based" instrument. Saying cloud/internet based license check. VERY common.

Or this thing you posted - requires LAN access.

Not sure that is a big deal and hopefully you can turn it off - but it appears something you have there (maybe several "somethings") need to be online (and at the ready) - well before S1 can complete it's scan - that is for certain.

I have had this happen with any iLok based plugin and Waves as well. Also with a broken iLok and all licenses on that hardware iLok: any plugin that ever needs to look at its server can stop the scan if there is no internet access. Even when it’s a demo you installed some time ago. I am not happy about this, but at least for starting Studio One you‘d need internet on.
You can also turn off the scan as long a you don‘t add new plugins.

Now that I figured out that it's possible to turn off the scan process the problem should be solved. I wasn't aware that I could do that. Thanks to all for your kind comments.

The best way to use iLok is to have the licenses install on the actual machine you are using. Not the hardware iLok. You do not have to be on line for these plugins to work. Also I have many Waves plugins too and also they don't have to be on line either to work. And Studio One definitely does not have to be on line to boot up. I have been very careful with this as I move around (clinics etc) and need to be able to use Studio One without being on line at all due to poor or no signal connections etc.. With care its possible to achieve this. I avoid any software which depends on being on line to work. Very occasionally my ISP might go down for a bit but I can keep working regardless.

The Scan on Startup process can be off 99% of the time. It only really needs to be on when you either install a new plugin or remove one.

Unfortunately a great number of plugins I use do not support machine iLok installations. They want the dongle.
