Update mastering file

Hello:

When in project page, and a song mastering file needs to be updated, the song page gets loaded in order to render the song. If using instrument tracks that need to load samples, the mix down starts before all the samples are loaded and the resulting mix down is wrong.

Is there a way to tell it to wait before everything is loaded? Or do I have to render all instrument tracks to audio to prevent this?

Thanks, Mike

You can update the mastering file from the song page. Go to Song - Update Mastering File

Please let us know if that recommendation addressed your issue

Well, it’s a workaround but doesn’t address the question.
Agreed. I was just trying to offer some help. Perhaps you could submit a help ticket to get a more definitive answer from PreSonus

Personally, I always have the song open when I'm working on a project. That way, if I decide to fix something in the mix versus in the project, I can go right into it. Everyone's workflow is different of course!

Please clarify......
How does the mixdown ever start before all the samples are loaded? That's not possible. You select after thay are loaded to then mixdown, or save, which only that time, will update the song (track) in the Project. Nothing happens before samples are loaded or you select to save.

Oh no...it's VERY possible and it DOES happen. It is my MAJOR complaint with the Project Page IF the song you want isn't loaded already.

I think you might be thinking he is mixing down from the SONG page. But when you click on the little icon in the Project page that says that the file has been updated, it automatically starts to load the song into the SONG page, and then starts the mixdown and you cannot interact with it beforehand...and that is when the sample aren't done loading yet.

It happens with Kontakt instruments as well as WAVES instruments, because they load in the background since the plugin itself is loading the samples, and NOT Studio One itself. Basically, what happens, it starts the MIXDOWN and the MIDI tracks that have samples loading into Kontakt or whatever just renders nothing until that sample is done loading into the plugin.

It's a really bad workflow on Presonus' part. They either need to just load the song and you manually select MIXDOWN or have some kind of disc activity check to make sure everything is loaded. It's SUPER annoying.

The other super annoying thing is when you load a song, if you even select a track by clicking on it, and it autosaves sometime after that, it flags the song as being changed and puts that annoying icon on the track in the Project page telling you that the song has been updated. Even though you actually made no change at all to the actual song. Other than that, I love Studio One...those are seriously my 2 only major complaints. No joke.
