Trying to find best compatible Synthesizer workstation for Studio One 7 Pro

Hello:
I have been a Studio One user since version 3.5 and own several versions up to 7.
Over a year ago, I bought a Yamaha Motif XS8 (which I enjoy) and have struggled through the whole connect to Cubase 6Ai and FireWire and Steinberg MR816x connections and multitrack sequencing and so on. Got all of that sorted and working.
I have keyboard MIDI controllers and use them to control VSTs and Kontakt and that whole mess...
I also have an Ensoniq TS-12. I used to have an Ensoniq SQ-80 and that was one of the easiest ways to write and sequence music quickly. Should not have sold it.
Also am a guitar player and songwriter.
What I want to do is get the best workable solution that would allow me to have a standalone synth workstation to write music without firing up Studio One and once I get the ideas worked out, move over to Studio One to edit and refine.

I would like to hear from you keyboard players and composers who use Studio One and what synthesizer works best in the DAW AND standalone.

I don't need any MIDI keyboard suggestions because I have that covered.
Just hoping there are folks who know what I mean about wanting to write outside the DAW.
My sales rep at Sweetwater even told me he also has a non-DAW keyboard setup for songwriting...

Thanks
DW

Welcome to the Forum!

Have you tried Scaler 3 (works in DAW or standalone)?
