Hello Everyone,
I am a long-time MOTU DP user, and am now trying to get to know S1. I have spent two days trying to get the following recording set-up I use in DP, working in S1. I have scoured the manual, and all of the videos of Joe and Gregor, and a few others I could find. I cannot seem to find a complete answer to my problem. Hopefully, someone here may be able to help.
What I do in DP:
In Studio One:
It seems like the Punch in/out Record range and the Playback range share the Loop brackets?!?... The is no clear visual separation of the two, as well? It would be nice of the Loop bracket turned red to show you the Rec Punch In and Out region...
You can set the Playhead to a certain precise spot outside of the loop region, but there is no way to see where that was once it moves?
You can set a marker to stop the playback, but you cannot get it to return to the place where the playback started on automatically?
Am I seeing this correctly? Is there a way to set-up S1 to do the record set-up I have used in all of my other DAWS for the past 20 years!...
. I truly hope so!
Please let me know.
Thank you for any help.

What I do in DP:
- I create a track to record onto.
- I set the length of the region I want to playback by using the Playback Range selection.
- I set the Transport to play this region, and set it so that it automatically returns to the top of the Playback range when it hits the end of the playback region bounds and stops there. Basically, it rewinds to the top of the region when it reaches the end.
- I then set-the Punch in and Punch out record markers to be exactly where I want this to happen. This is somewhere within the bounds of the playback region. I set all of these freely, and they are usually not lining up on the bar lines...
- I set the tracks to add a new take with each pass...
- I then press record, it plays and then records in the Punch In/OUT region, reaches the end and goes back to the start point, add a new take, and is ready to go again as quickly as I need it to when I press the record button again...
