The Project Page - Help please

I'm rather new at this, and I don't understand the difference between the Master section and the Post section on the Project Page, when to use them in the recording process, and how it works. Also: if you put in the compressor, limiter, eq. etc it will affects all songs, so how to adjust songs differently with different plug ins?

The Master section is before the master level fader, the Post section is after. So for example, if you had a limiter to make sure the output level didn't exceed a certain amount, you'd put it in the Post section. You could use the master fader to "push" more audio into the limiter if you wanted. Both the Master and Post inserts affect all tracks. For example, if you wanted to make all the tracks brighter, you'd insert an EQ in the Master section.

You can insert different plugins for individual tracks in the area above the Master and Post sections. Selecting a different track reveals the inserts for that track.

I feel the Project Page is underrated. The more you use it, the more uses you'll find for it. Hope this helps!

In Studio One 4 I have created two project pages which works fine, but when I create a new project page and play the song transferred to it, it is very slow, crackles and is terribly noisy, I wonder why is that? Is this a frequent problem?

Well - Studio One 4 dates back to 2018 and has been retired for years - so not sure you are going to get any useful intel from many actual v4 users on this specific item

If you can provide a detailed readout of your hardware, audio interface, sample rate, buffer size etc- we may be able to get a handle on this.

FWIW, I have v4 on two laptops. I haven't encountered any difference on speed or crackles on them at any time. In fact, the Project Page usually is more robust than a song. Largely because less is going on between the number of VST's, instruments or MIDI happenings.
I think your simply experiencing crackles based on some recent encounter and seeing it on the Projects page. Check for any plugins using higher resources by opening the CPU meter. Select to view all plugins. Then sort by clicking on the percentage column. There you may very well encounter the culprit. I just dont see (or have seen) that the Project Page will cause such an issue. Also, if you have several songs open because you edited them through Projects, they might still be open. So look at other things being open. Close all potential songs or programs running in the background.
Does "crackles and terribly noisy" match the CPU bar, by going in the red?

A snapshot of your project page may help, or what is prioritized in your CPU plugin list. Thats where I'd look first.

Please update your signature (see link and example in mine) with your system specs.
We need this information to help in responding to what may be causing your issues.
