Is it possible to create tags and assign them to individual samples in the browser?

Can you elaborate on how you want to use these tags, in Studio One or in general?
AFAIK Studio One doesn't have individual file tagging or the ability to view file tags. I use Kid3 for file tagging, but those tags have no use inside Studio One. You can view them from your computer's file browser and from Kid3 of course.

No, it's not possible yet. User tagging is a a long-standing feature request

Best browser in any DAW I have used - but oh so sadly hobbled by poor design and lack of any flexibility.
Ironically - it does rightly deserve the name "Browser" because - really - that is all you can do with it.
I simply moved to ADSR Sample Manager and it handles everything I could ever want in the Browser - including killer tag options - without the decade+ wait time.
