Regarding:
  • Improved visual contrast handling for waveforms
  • Improved presentation of gain/fade handles on events
I´m not quite sure what difference we are supposed to see here?
Over here waveform seems to be lighter in SO 7.2.2 so actually less contrast, not improved in my opinion.
Also I see no difference in the gain/fade handles?
Is there some new preference setting I´m missing?
Anyone else?

I'm not sure if this is new but the Contrast slider in Options/Appearance/Arrangement affects the waveform.

Based on your own image comparison, the differences may not be immediately apparent to everyone, but they are still present at a rate of 20%. See also the different color values analyzed for this. The main difference is not the colors itself, but the slider value curve in the options.

Along with the Studio One Pro 7.2.2 rollout there is a fix for a previously reported "Frighter" preset bug in Sub Zero Bass.

Here's a link with steps for the fix...

Thanx for chiming in Ari!
yes I can see the differences. In my examples the contrast slider is at a 100%. Still the lower have of your image being 7.2.2 I don´t see an "improved visual contrast handling".
What about the "Improved presentation of gain/fade handles on events"? I really can´t spot a difference.
Kind regards
Wolfger

The colors themselves haven't changed. You may be confusing this with something else. What has changed is the behavior of the contrast slider - (or better - the value curve). If you take measurements at different points in different versions, you may see the difference more clearly.

Yes, I get this, still I see no way now of getting the slightly darker waveform from 7.2.1 which I prefer. But so be it, no big deal.
Any comments on the improved gain/fade handles?

Please show me exactly the color you want. The exact shade. Then I might be able to set it for you.

it´s not a matter of a specific color. Opening the same song here on my screen with all colours the waveform now is brighter in 7.2.2 then in 7.2.1:

No one can say that I did not attempt it. 🫣

I´m really sorry Ari, maybe it's a language barrier, but I still don´t get how I could get the look of 7.2.1. with the slightly darker waveform back?

I compared the actual RGB color values for each waveform and here's the results.
The difference (see values) is not much but 7.2.2 waveforms are a tad brighter than 7.2.1.
Background event color for each is virtually the same.

Exactly what I´m saying the whole time! How is this "Improved visual contrast handling for waveforms"?
And I´m really sorry for being pedantic here, but can anyone see
"Improved presentation of gain/fade handles on events"?

Installed before shutting down yasterday, everything loaded OK on an intial run.

Will be trying my best to break stuff over the next few day's.🙃

Kindest regards.

Thank you for the update!

Since 7.2 and later, the GUI colors have gotten worse again. The harsh border of a selected event, for example, really bothers me. Grids aren't visible for selected events. Mixing the accent color creates jarring color combinations. The biggest problem is that the user has no options to make adjustments themselves.
Examples:
a) Channel accent color: Set the mixing ratio with the gray value of the selected color.
b) Max. brightness of the events or max. border brightness for selected events ...
......
(For a solution it is worth looking at other DAWs)

My way of working has changed significantly in version 7:
I use pastel color combinations. The coloring of track headers is disabled. Folders have a color that's barely visible.
Custom settings would be a great solution. I don't understand why they don't want that. It's similar with track icons: use what's there, otherwise, leave it.

Since there were inquiries about gain/fade handles on events: In previous versions, it was possible to drag an event fade handle so far to the opposite edge that the gain handle was painted over. Now, each of the three upper handles has its own place and can be accessed and edited at any time—even with extreme settings.
