Solved Space bar and transport controls do nothing

I'm new to Studio One, so this might be something simple – I'm working on several pieces, and they all work fine, except that one has stopped reacting to the Spacebar or the transport controls. I just can't get it moving. Does anyone have any suggestions, please?
Thanks for any help,
Kenny

Welcome to the Forum!

Were all these songs created in Studio One 7.2.1?

Is an audio device assigned to the song where the transport is not working?
The transport won't if the active audio device is not assigned or available in a song.

Can you post a screenshot (see example screenshot below) of the transport of the song that's not working?

Thanks, and thanks for your prompt response.
Yes, just a few bits of something, to sniff out the possibilities. I came across from FL Studio, which I spent the last 5 years trying to understand.
In Prefs, Display Audio is assigned. I reselected this, and got the song moving again, but there is no sound. I can scrub with the Listen Tool, and the sound is OK. I'm not too experienced in this area, so it's probably finger trouble. See attached photo.

Good to hear the Transport is working now.

Please post your "no sound" issue to new topic.

Click where it says "I/O" as shown here and post a screenshot of the Mix view and your Audio I/O settings.

I'm sorry, there are so many things happening that make no sense – I save, but often the black dot in the red window control (top left) remains. Then I try to quit (Cmd-Q or menu) and it doesn't quit. I have to use Force-Quit, with the attendant risks.
I can see the sound indication in the tracks, but nothing in the channels.
I've probably messed things up by 'experimenting' with things. I think that, at my current level of confusion, the best thing to do is to completely uninstall S1, reboot the computer, and reinstall a fresh copy from the website.
Thanks for your input, I may have to come back later.

Sorry, but it's hard for us to help with the issues you're having without screenshots or a link to a video of what you're seeing.

The issues may also be related to your 12 year old computer.

Yes, I'm sorry, some strange things happened in the last day or so, not related to S1, and I panicked a little. I've uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled S1, and it's a little better. I use some pretty big-deal software on my 12 year-old computer, including a major 3D engineering and modelling package (Windows via Parallels), and have had no problems. I think the major problem is that I'm not familiar with DAW software (I got badly confused with FL Studio, which is why I'm trying S1). The lack of consistent terminology is part of the problem. I downloaded Cinematic lights and Sub-Zero Bass, and the site said they were registered, but when I started S1, it asked me to activate them but it couldn't access on the net. It seemed to me that the words 'register' and 'activate' were being used interchangeably. Thanks for your interest, anyway. Is there a reliable way to set everything back to default settings?

It sounds as though when you Cmd + Q or use the menu to quit, you are in some other state likely waiting for some other command.

Sound indication as in metering? I suspect you dont mean waveforms, but if you do mean waveforms, then try track or channel solo buttons to at least get some verification of sound.
Is your global mute button on? Its at the bottim left of the arrangement view.
I've probably messed things up by 'experimenting' with things.
What does that mean?

Good luck though, but by sending in a screenshot, we might be able to save you a lot of time. Either way, definately avoid (for now) the experimenting part.

For some reason you're choosing not to respond to requests for screenshots relative to your Studio One issues...
What's up with that?

The plot thickens with you saying that you're running major 3D engineering software using Windows emulation via Parallels on your computer.
Are you running the Mac or Windows version of Studio One 7?

I'm sorry for my apparent hesitation, S1 is partly a distraction from a difficult situation in my life (drops in the exchange rate from Australia – I'm a Brit in Spain with an Aussie pension, and now I'm not eating enough).
I'm on the Mac version, the 3D engineering software comes only for Windows (I'm terrified of Windows!), hence Parallels.
I went on Knowledgebase, and found the post about permissions so I reset the Presonus folder, and that fixed a few things. Then I found 3 different locations for Captain Plugins presets, so I combined them in the correct place and reset permissions, now most things seem to have stabilised.
Is there a way to copy and past, or save an automation curve? I found 'copy' on each adjustment point, but it doesn't seem to do much.
Thank you for your interest and willingness to help.

Thanks for your response. I suspect that the Quit problem was because permissions were not set properly, so the Save had not worked (still a black dot in the red window control (top left in the window) – seems to be good now.
Yes, metering (orange bar flashing in track), and global mute not activated.
Thanks for your interest.

As a reminder (per Forum rules) we need you to post one issue per thread so the subject title and responses match.
Your initial "Space bar and transport controls do nothing" post is resolved but then you added more issues.
It's difficult for Forum moderators and members to respond or follow-up when this happens.

Earlier I sent you an example screenshot to address your "no sound" issue and asked for screenshots from you to help resolve the issue...

Audio I/O Setup

You did not post any screenshots but instead posted additional questions...

Is there still no sound or is that working now?

Please post new topics for each of the issues you still have.

Sorry if I was out of order, I was an avionics maintenance engineer for 50 years – asking for help is something of a new idea for me.
Everything seems to have come good after resetting permissions for Presonus and Captain Plugins.
I'm getting the hang of it now, and I'm so grateful for the help and guidance I've been given by Trucky and lokefly.

No worries. Glad to help and to hear that everything is working now for you.
