Solved Separate an accordion recording from the music side and the bass side

Kasko

Hello,
I'm new to this forum today, and I'm asking an important question right away if Harmony Wizard can provide this!
I purchased Harmony Wizard for Studio One (I have Studio One 6.6.4) on 11/22/2024.
I want to separate the wave file from a YouTube movie and turn it into a midi file.
I can do that, but I can't put it in this new ad on Harmony Wizard.
I can't yet select the melody from this midi file and then save it!
(This is an accordion youtube video, where a melody side and a bass side are recorded at the same time.
I want to be able to extract the melody and bass side separately from the midi file and send them to Notion 6.8.2 for further editing.
So there is absolutely no need to remove the accordion part from the trio orchestra here.
The accordion is clear enough.(I don't want to upgrade to Studio One 7 for this yet, because 3 instruments can already be separated there)!

Can you show me the right way to do the above, or is this operation not going to work with this ad?
Can you refer me to a clear instructional video on how to solve this?

Below you will find a link to the youtube video...

Hi Kasko, that is not what Harmony Wizard is for. It doesn't work with audio and what you are asking for is in fact not possible yet. First of all to separate the accordeon from the rest, then to have software somehow understand which sound and notes are plyed by which hand. We are definitely not at that point yet. I think the problem here is that, because technology is getting so advanced that it can look like magic, we have come to expect magic.

But regarding Harmony Wizard: it's a composition tool, made to generate chords and chord progressions, inversions, melodies, bass lines, orchestral voicings etc etc. It is NOT a tool to separate stems and then create notes from these stems, or even have these notes analyzed to determine what is left and right hand.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your well-explained statement about what "Harmony Wizard" can and cannot do. I understand that what I want (now) is not possible. Still, I appreciate your effort.
On the other hand, Harmony Wizard is a nice add-on for creating fun things with real MIDI notes.
Best regards,
Kasko

I was able to do what you're asking (see screenshot) using Any Video Converter, Studio One Pro 7 Stem Separator, Melodyne 5 Editor and Presence (Accordian Preset).

That's incredible Trucky. While I'm not an accordion aficionado myself - that's definitely a useful workflow to keep in mind. I looked up "Any Video Converter" - did you just use the free version? Really hoping the OP sees this and tries it out/comments. (Kudos for accepting the challenge! 👍)

Yes and I prefer the 7.1.8 release.

Hi Trucky, thank you for your explanation. But I keep thinking..
In note editer in your screenshot there are a lot of notes..! In the attachment I have attached my small screenshot, and that looks completely different, but with all due respect, the notes do not give the played notes that the accordion actually plays. (It just makes you dizzy when you see this) i.e. if you play the music you play, and only use the Note Editor, does that match the original WAV?
I followed the procedure as in the instructional video about: Audio to MIDI in Studio One. So I also chose to convert in Melodyne (I have the full version Studio) to "Melodic" and used this file as a basis to make an Instrument track.
In my version they are really not midi notes, but there are even more sounds that don't belong there! In Melodyne, should I choose another option?

Is it possible to take the accordion part out of the rest with Studio One 7?
Do you have any tips on how to proceed as you have now received this result. (I have a music friend, and he already asked to remove the accordion part from the rest, but no satisfactory result came out! (Perhaps we still have a lot to learn about this subject first).
Is it possible that I can view/hear your files?
Thanks in advance,
With kind regards,
Kasko

The Stem Separator in Studio One Pro 7 allows you to separate 4 items:
Vocal, Drums, Bass & Other (everything other than Vocal, Drums and Bass)
Audio for the accordion in the video actually turned out to be "Other" since it only had drums and bass (no vocal) for instruments.
All the notes in the example I posted are specific to just the accordion (she's playing melody, fills and chords).

Good afternoon Trucky,
Thank you very much for your explanation, and now that I know more or less what the possibilities of Harmony Wizard are, I will stop the conversation about my item.
Hopefully, in the future, a good solution will come to my initially asked question in this forum...
I am surprised by the quick and adequate answer that you (you) provide, for which thanks.

Kind regards,
Kasko
