Solved S1 import mp3 and directly transform it in wav. avoidable ?

Happy new year 2025 everyone ^^

I already asked this question i think but lets say we want save memory space by avoiding S1 to transform each imported mp3 audio into wav. is it just possible please ?

Happy new year :-)

No, Studio One cannot work directly with MP3 files, so they are always decoded and converted during import. This is because MP3, unlike formats like OGG or FLAC, is less suited for precise editing in DAWs due to its frame-based structure and potential timing inconsistencies. If you want to save hard disk space, FLAC is a great alternative as it's a lossless compressed format.

By the way: Are you trying to save hard disk space or RAM (since you're mentioning memory)? You won’t save RAM, as audio files are either streamed from the hard disk or fully loaded into memory in an uncompressed format anyway.

No it was to save hard disk space of course.
Thanks a lot for your answer Lukas !
