Solved Routing Hurts My Brain... (Question About Using MIDI to Trigger & Record External Instrument)

Somehow, I'm misunderstanding the basic concept. I feel like I've done this before.. But apparently I didn't grasp it properly. Hopefully, it begins to make more sense...

I'm trying to use a MIDI file to trigger playback of a preset from my external instrument. (I already have an external instrument track set up that can record audio from my keyboard, which you can see below)

So, that's step one.

Step 2 is having that track with the MIDI file route into the audio track to record the external instrument. (I think I'm saying that correctly.)

This way, I can edit the MIDI notes of my performance. And once it's been cleaned up, I can hit record, and it will playback the now-edited MIDI file and record the MIDI performance to the audio track - using the preset from my external instrument.

I hope that makes sense. Thank you, thank you...

Specs: Studio One 6

Have you had a look at the videos on external instruments from Gregor and me? We’ve made some on AUX channels, and we’ve also created some on external instruments + instrument and audio tracks.

Thank you. I did watch a couple Studio One vids before posting this, as well as browsed google results in forums - but no luck.. I will watch the rest of this list and get back to you (y)

Well, I didn't find an answer to the 2nd part of my question. But I eventually figured it out on my own. Thank you for the resources. :)

And maybe someday, the delay compensation in this AUX channel setup will eventually be fixed ;)
