Route EZdrummer outs to Studio One *inside* a folder?

Eric

I'm using Studio One 6 Pro. I have a Percussion folder that includes an EZdrummer 3 track. When I added this track,it took on the color of the folder (as I'd requested) and the Percussion folder's controls (fader, inserts, etc.) affected the track.

I tried to route this EZdrummer track's outputs (kick, snare, toms, etc.) separately to Studio One. (I used the approach in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nP4_hPycywE). This resulted in a bunch of new tracks in the Mixer view, which was what I wanted.

But these tracks don't show up in the Arranger view. And they don't seem to be *inside* the Percussion folder: they didn't take on the Percussion folder's color, and the Percussion folder's controls only affect the "original" Mixer track (which is now the kick drum), not the 15 other new tracks.

Is there a way to have all these EZdrummer outs show up in the Arranger view and be inside the Percussion folder? Or is there some other approach that would give me a similar result? Or am I just not understanding how this stuff works in Studio One (quite possible)?

Thanks!

Please post a screenshot of your current setup in Studio One.
You can achieve what you're asking by using "Explode Pitches to Tracks" so each part (Kick, Snare, etc.) is in separate tracks.
Any specific reason why you want all your MIDI notes from EZD3 in separate tracks in the Arranger?
That's common for audio tracks but for multi-output virtual drums I prefer editing notes in one track rather than in separate tracks.

It's important to be aware of the differences between tracks and channels in Studio One:

Tracks are in the arrangement.
Channels are in the mixer.

Each audio track automatically has an audio channel in the mixer. But instrument tracks/channels don't necessarily have this 1:1 relationship. You can have one or 100 tracks that go to the same instrument, but it can still have only one channel in the mixer.

In your example, it's the opposite: You have created multiple outputs, or "channels," in the mixer, while keeping all notes on one single track in the arrangement:

However, as Trucky explained, the "Explode Pitches to Tracks" command can automatically generate additional tracks and assign each note with a different pitch to its respective track:

For more information about tracks and channels, you might want to take a look at these tutorials:

The EZDrummer mixer allows you to assign different kit pieces to different outputs.

Very helpful! New information for me that I'll definitely be reviewing in the future so I can truly integrate it.

"Explode Pitches to Tracks" is exactly what I thought I was looking for, but you're right (and I was confused): I prefer to edit all MIDI notes in one track. So I think what I'm actually looking for is to have one EZdrummer track and have its multiple Mixer channels automatically inherit the track's folder's color, exactly as would happen if I had just one channel. My percussion instruments have a specific color so I can quickly pick them out from all the other channels, but, right now, when I expand EZdrummer from using one Mixer channel to using, say, 16 channels, only the first channel has the track's folder's color; the other new channels are gray. How would I get Studio One to do this?
