Question About Perpetual License Products

So, my update license converts to perpetual on Sept 26 (2 days from now). What do I lose if I don't renew until the next update comes out?

I was thinking of waiting until the next update comes, then re-upping then, giving me a year from that date, rather than a year from 2 days for now, the strategy I am going for is, why waste a few months if no update comes out until say December or even early next year?

But before I do that, what all do I lose? I am assuming I'll lose the Studio Grand and the Presonus Orchestra (which I rarely use, because honestly, I have better for both). But do I lose things like Deep Flight, or any FX?

Are you just "perpetual" or on a sub?

If it's the latter - you lose access to all "content" AND "extras". Think loops, samples and access to all the online stuff (Backup, workspaces etc).

Standard instruments like Deep Flight are now part of the standard package so you will continue to have those. But any FX that are beyond standard issue (not sure if there even are any?) - you would lose access to.

If it's the former - you are exactly like me. My Studio One annual updates ended Oct 10.

Studio One runs just fine - just no new updates offered until I renew annual updates.

I am on perpetual. Sorry...I thought I mentioned that and I guess my brain typed it but my fingers didn't. lol.

And thank you! That is what I was hoping. I don't see the advantage of purchasing again until another major update comes out.

There is no advantage whatsoever to purchasing blind now.

Once your update window expires - any "advantage" moves to us (and our wallets).

Do what I am going to do - watch for the next update and see if it moves you.

If it does not - carry on with the very mature and capable v7.2.2 and wait until the next one. Cost = $0.00

Exactly my plan. It's going to have to be a pretty significant update too because right now, 7.22 does everything I need...I don't really care about Splice or the extra loops. I don't really like their extra content via Presence much (I have better through NI, Impact Soundworks, East / West and Spitfire). Thank you for the clarification!

I stayed with Cubase Elements 7 right up until last year and then they offered me the upgrade to 14 for under $60. I didn’t see a need to update as most of the cool changes were not added to Elements over that time.
I plan on something similar for S1. Im good for updating until next February.

October 26th. (Oooops)
; )
Extras also include some fat channel extensions. I forget the ones, but its around 6 of them.
Some other fat channel plugs are part of the Studio One Pro version that you'll still have. There's a page that shows what the various offerings and differences are.
Here's the different offerings:

THanks! And yep! October...duh. Sorry 'bout that.

Come on....seriously? Everyone knows it is 1999.

Those party days are gone. Now I'm happy if I can have on a rare occasion, a cold beer.

Yeah, the Perpetual Studio One has a lot, and its great that Presonus didn't really strip it down. They could have, and didnt.

If you're in a pinch or used something with plus, and needed to bounce it, you could use plus monthly, until you dont really need to. The choices IMO are really very well covered.
Enjoy!

Well, I'm day 1 on perpetual rather than the "Paid" and everything is peachy! Thank you!

Actually....did it auto-renew? When I go to Help / About, it says Valid Until 25.10.2026....or does it just keep adding a year with the perpetual without the extra Studio One features? And I can still access them. I didn't think the perpetual was supposed to auto-renew....and the actual website doesn't have a end date on it anymore like it used to...so...I'm confused.

There is no way it could have Auto-renewed...I bought it thru Sweetwater...Presonus doesn't have my CC info.

I am perpetual as well - and also have this date - which is a "reactivation" date. Once per year - S1 needs to "reactivate" itself (as explained by Support to me).

This date has no price, effect to your perpetual status, features or any other consequence other than this fact.

And exactly what "extra" features are you talking about? There are no "extras" including with S1 7 Pro (Perpetual)

Got it. How come I can still access Studio Grand and the Orchestra? Is there a grace period, or is it just because the activation gremlin hasn't run on my PC yet?

Yeah - if you still have access to Studio Grand and Orchestra - that is new to me. Mind you - like everyone else - I have never actually seen what happens when a "subscription" user - watches their sub expire without renewal and "goes" perpetual.

You are the first to report this - so I am curious. Are you able to throw Studio Grand onto a track, record with it and export that track out to a mixdown? If so - seem that all my speculation over the last year about not being able to access the "sub" stuff without renewing was totally false.

The word was that ALL the "extra" sub stuff would somehow - not be possible to use if one did not renew their sub.

My interpretation has always been: Studio Grand, Orchestra, Batch Converter and Presence XT Editor have become an integral part of the Perpetual License. Therefore, imho, they should not expire after one year.
