Question about FaderPort v2 and Automation modes

hey

I just plugged in the Faderport (1 channel) and whenever I press "Write" for automation modes it activates it on the channel and not on the track (where all the automation happens)

Any setting I'm overlooking?

Still learning so not sure what's the logic of this native mapping on the FP.

I'd love to be able to assign the automation aparameters on the FP to the track

Thanks 🙏

Enable the "Automatically create automation tracks for channels" option...

Hey Trucky!

Thanks for the tip but I just disabled it on purpose thanks to your suggestion in a previous post since I didn't want FX or Bus tracks to be created in the timeline :ROFLMAO:

I've already found a way to create automation tracks in a smooth way and my goal is to

- create a shortcut for enabling "Write" and "Read" to all existing automation tracks I might create in one go.

Faderport, by default, enables "Write" on the selected channel but all the automations won't be recorded in the track (as you can see here, all the automation tracks I've created they're all set to "Auto Off")

Please update your signature (see link in mine) with all you system specs.
There's a couple single channel FaderPorts so knowing the versions and equipment models etc. helps when responding to questions or issues.

Also in your post, can you provide the steps you're using so we can try to replicate or confirm the issue?

updated :)

Thanks for updating your signature.

Steps to reproduce the issue?

not much really. I press "Write" on the Faderport expecting, as the manual says: "Engages Write Automation on the currently selected track."

but, pic above, only the channel does.
The track itself still stays in "Auto Off"

Not sure if it's some setting I'm missing tho I looked everywhere I could think of (also on the wrenches on both tracks and console).

Guess I've found its use:

I sense what the manual says when it states ""Engages Write Automation on the currently selected track." is only referring to channel related tracks (the ones automatically created by activating "automatically create automation tracks for channels" which only displays

Volume
Pan
Mute

That's it.
Is not going to take into account say, an automation track of the Analog Delay or Pro Q or whatever insert FX.
The attached screenshot shows it works on a Volume track as expected but all other automation tracks are ignored.

But I'm sensing I was getting Fadeport wrong: FP is thought as a pure mixer controller in which case it would make sense cos automating those 3 only is what you usually do on a mixing board.

Bit of a pity cos, for how super smart S1 is and how well is designed I was expecting those buttons on the FP to act globally.
But I guess it would clash with the clear distinction between channels and tracks S1 is known for.

Unless I'm wrong, mystery is solved.

Correct but don't forget the unique [Link] feature that the FaderPort v2 provides for control and automation.

With the [Link] button activated I'm able to control and write automation using the encoder while hovering with the mouse over what I want to control.
