Plugins are showing up in plugin manager but aren't working (they did yesterday)

Plugin problem...
I moved a song to my laptop to work on it on loacation, and made sure to install every plugin I needed (Line6 Helix Native & XLN Audio Addictive Drums 2). I tested it yesterday at home, and every plugin worked.
Now I'm on location, I open the song, and SO tells me my plugins are missing:
I checked the VST plugin folder location under Options. These were unchanged and correct.
I checked the Plugin manager. The plugins are listed there.
But on the console, they're all indicated red and unusable.
I did the thing with delting the blacklist and "remove plug-in settings" but that did nothing
How do i fix this? This needs to be fixed in just over an hour or my trip is completely wasted!

Unfortunately that is not so easy because more information is needed. I will try to stay on top of this right now. What type of plugins did you install, VST2 or VST3? And where did you have the dll or VST3 files ? And when you go to the locations set in Studio One, are the plugins in that directory? I will wait

Plug-ins can be in various plug-in formats: VST2, VST3, AU (on MacOS), CLAP. You did not mention your operating system.

To load plug-ins correctly, you must install the plug-in in the same format (/version) as your song. You can use https://s1toolbox.com to find out the plug-ins and their formats for your songs.

As an example: For this song, S1 Toolbox shows that I'm using FabFilter Pro-Q2 in the VST3 version and RX 7 in VST2. So if I have both plug-ins installed on another computer and I still get a "missing plug-in" message, I should check that I've installed the correct plug-in format.

Some VST3 plug-ins can open/replace the VST2 version if used in songs, but not all of them, and not in the other direction.

Your post on Facebook shows you are on Windows, so it's either VST or VST3. What the plugin manager and the pluginlist show are not necessarily what is actually installed unless you did remove plugin settings and rescanned. Then it is about what Lukas said, a mismatch between plugin formats. Also, try to think of anything that might be different between yesterday and today. There has to be something otherwise you would get the same result as yesterday. And that difference will point to the cause of this.

Addictive drums is VST2 apparently, that dll is in this folder (which is listed in locations)

Helix Native is VST3 is in this folder, it's main folder is also listed (has always worked like that)

Sorry for the slow reply, things got pretty hectic suddenly.

No problem. Can you think of anything that was different yesterday compared to today? Like an external drive, a USB drive, a dongle not being there now, anything?

The only thing I can think of is a change in network... everything else is the same.

I had a usb drive connected that I used to transfer the song, I disconnected that. Surely that's not it?

That actually is a possibility. Can you check under Program Files that both these programs are installed there? I know Addictive Drums should be there under XLN

Are you on a network there? If so, is there a possibility of letting me check everything while you take care of other things?

The plot thickens and does not look good. I tried running the XLN Online installer to see if i could repair or reinstall Addictive Drums, and I got this...

Ehh. Doesn't look like a SO problem anymore... :-S

Ouch...
Reinstalling Helix Native worked without errors, but didn't result in SO recognizing it.
Rescan? Remove Plugin Settings, then rescan?

Also: is Studio One open when you try to reinstall Addictive Drums? If so, close that first, or even do a reboot before you try. That may have caused the access denied error

Nope, nothing.

I'm going to pack it up and check everything at home.
Sorry to hear that... Let's stay in touch so we can find out what happened. I sent you a message on Facebook as well

Definitely reach out to XLN support. They just had a huge "minor" update, which is free.

I am on a Mac but when I had installer issues a few years back, they were very helpful.
