Permanent Mapping a VST or a plugin

hey all

I followed the tuts on YT to permanently map the Keylab Essential 88 MKII to VSTs and plugins but I'm not 100% how S1 handles these

Yesterday I started this big quest by mapping Mai Tai and was working just fine. But today all those mappings, in a new sessions, are gone.

2 questions to make I got how S1 works right

- in S1 once you map a VST/plugin is stored for good from now on, in any sessions you use that VST/plugin?

- If I want to control Mai Tai via the Keylab (with existing mappings) do I need to specify every time which device among the list on the upper left and turn that on so that's yellow? (I've got the Keylab Keyboard, Keylab Control, Atom, Atom SQ so there's a bunch of them but I've set it up in a way that none of them is the default but rather "All MIDI Inputs")

If you could answer these even with a simple yes or no would be dope: at least I get a confirmation it's actually possible in S1 and got back and re-watch those YT tutorials to see which step I missed.

Thank you!

I don't know if this may be an answer but; I've mapped many controls in Presence/Mai Tai/Impact to my KK S61, save as "instrument and fx" with a custom name and they seem to reload intact for that preset. If I change a preset from inside the instrument, the global controls are sticky, but at null values; local controls are gone.
This also works for me when saving an entire instrument/track/channel template like a multi-out drum kit.

Thanks! since I'm new to S1 can you specify what "local controls" are?
and what do you mean by "global controls are sticky, but at null values" ?
🙏

After mapping, just save the song and the mappings will be there for another day.

Weird implementation but it works.

Thanks Thomas

by "other day" you mean any day in any new session?

Need to understand the logic behind so that I can invest some time fine tuning the way I need it and forget about it for good ;)

Since I bought the Hydrasynth I realized how much more natural for me is to use my hands micro-adjusting things as I record.
Always did them in post via mouse for 19 years but once you try that workflow you're gone XD

Yes, somehow, somewhere S1 saves the mapping when you save a song. Weird.
