Old PreSonus Forum

Hi

Just joined and updated to 7.2 after a long time away. Looks like Presonus is finally back, the new features (well features that people have been asking for a very long time indeed) are finally here, and they are fixing bugs. Well done them.

Question- the old forums, is there an archive of it somewhere? Because there was a load of useful information over there that I used.

Nice new forums btw. It would be nice to see the signatures when browsing in mobile view mode (same problem the old forums had, can only see signatures in desktop mode).

Thx.

Right.
So no archive anywhere?

Go to the Internet Archive WayBack Machine for snapshots of the PreSonus forums. However, it's uncurated and finding material is hit and miss. Also, a lot of the later material returns a message that access is forbidden, so it's not archived.

This URL takes you to a list of years. Individual months have dots were snapshots of the forum were taken. Click on a dot, and you will likely find forum topics and can drill down to individual posts. Hey, it's better than nothing...

Also FWIW, my blog posts before September 1, 2022 were deleted. Updated versions are in The Huge Book of Studio One Tips & Tricks, but as far as I know, the original blog posts aren't available anywhere.

The loss of all that archived material makes me that much more grateful that this new forum exists (y)

As I understand it, Luke et al have the data, but not in a form that could simply be uploaded to this forum without converting it all ( you could pay someone to do this but it's a big task ) .

I spearheaded an effort to back up the old repo back in November, but the Presonus forum (antiquated POS on dated tech) had an EXTREME rate-limiting setting which halted our archiving attempts in their tracks; incidentally this is the very reason that the existing backups are so sparse as Craig stated above.

We would have had to essentially spoof our IP with multiple VPNs (this is possible but extremely tedious) to acquire everything from the 10 years the forum was active, and I found no one willing or able to take this on in the 7-8 days 'warning' we were given.

As am I Craig, but honestly this point just illustrates how hamfisted and poorly thought out the whole thing was... throwing out not only the forum but the commissioned articles written by industry pros is about as unprofessional as it gets.

Some corporate muppet trying to impress the brass, as per usual.

The way I found out the posts had been deleted was I was writing a new post and wanted to include a link to a previous post for more information, but the older post was no longer there. Oooops. But this ain't my first rodeo. When corporate takeovers happen, there are so many moving parts that someone like me is on the periphery of their reality. And to be fair, a lot of that material had become out of date. Having a constantly updated version of a book seems like an ideal solution. Granted it's not free, but at least the updates are.

The people handling the blog now are pussycats to work with and treat me right, so at least as far as the blog's concerned, all's well that ends well.
