Solved Midi notes almost always hanging when using QWERTY Keyboard

Hello everybody!
I have a very disabling midi problem in studio one that is driving me nuts:
Whenever I use the QWERTY Keyboard to test and tweak sounds of a software synthesizer every note keeps hanging when I'm not focused on the qwerty keyboard window but on the synths window. (Might also be with external keyboard, havent used that for a while and will check soon.)
One can imagine that its a very unpractical way of working.
I know about the all notes off button and shortcut, but I'd have to press it basically constantly, so it's not really a solution for me.
Even when pushing "all notes off", the notes are often not released (maybe 50% of the cases).

Somebody has a hint leading me out of this misery? Thanks!

Currently on studio one version 6.6.3.1 ( several previous versions also had the issue).
Macbook Pro 16", M1 Pro, Ventura 13.2

Hey Hampelschw....was? Welcome to the forum

A window can only receive keyboard events when it's in focus. This is how most software works - it's not a bug but rather an expected behavior. To address this, make sure to use the QWERTY Keyboard window in the foreground while playing.

The QWERTY Keyboard is designed as a convenient tool for when you want to play instruments without a connected MIDI keyboard (in the train etc.). It's not intended to replace a dedicated MIDI keyboard entirely, as that would come with significant limitations anyway.

Ok, but the thing is. This works flawlessly in all other DAWs I currently use (Ableton, Logic). Plus it DID work in studio one, when I was still in version 4 or so.
I asked a couple of friends: One also uses Studio one 6, but on windows. He does not have this issue.
Another friend on a mac, studio one 7, there is also works.
Yet another one with S1 5 on windows, this only occasionally happens.
Yet another one on S1 6.1.2.93766 win X64, the notes from qwerty never hang.

So to me this sounds very much like a bug!

It may also depend on the plug-in that has the focus and if it uses keyboard shortcuts so that these events are caught by the plugin...

Yes, I'm not saying it can't be done - it certainly can. But playing instruments with a computer keyboard is always a hacky thing that I wouldn't necessarily rely on.

As far as I know, PreSonus is still aware of the request for improvement.
