Micro editing

Hi everyone, I wanted to know if there's a way to make editing audio clips more straightforward.
I'll try to explain.
In my previous DAW, I could choose an instrument from the Smart Tools and apply the chosen editing type directly by selecting the portion of the clip to edit, and it was very quick. More specifically, if I needed to mute a portion of a voice clip by hovering the cursor over the desired part, that portion was automatically muted.
In S One, unless I'm doing something wrong (and I probably am), I wasn't able to edit the portion that needed to be cut first.
If we consider microediting background noise, the process takes much longer than in the first example.
I chose S One, which I believe to be the best DAW right now, but unless I'm doing something wrong, it's less immediate than the DAW I used before, which for me was the best before the company made some ridiculous decisions... but that's another story.
Can you help me?
Thanks

Have you tried using the Range Tool to select what you want muted followed by pressing Shift M?

Thanks so much for your reply.
I tried following your suggestions, but nothing happens.
I select the portion of the clip that becomes clear, press Shift + M, and nothing happens.
Thanks anyway.

That's strange because it works as expected for me and all my clients.
Be sure to confirm that the default keyboard shortcut you have assigned to "Toggle Mute" is Shift + M.

Hi, I'd like to know who posted "solved" in the thread.
I've been busy with a mastering job and just saw the posts.
The problem isn't solved,I checked in the shortcuts and shift M is present but when I select and press shift M nothing happens.
In the screenshot you can see the little cross when I press shift M
However, it would be very helpful if the developers implemented the smart tool's direct function, since they created the tools themselves.
I repeat, it would be nice to be able to immediately activate the function when selecting the portion of the clip once the mute or delete tool is selected; it's convenient and immediate.
I uploaded some screenshots because I think the forum doesn't accept videos
This is just my advice, based on a positive experience with another DAW that I don't use right now.
Best regards

I'd love to see a mute shortcut key added for clip gain envelopes. That way you will be able (also visibly) mute sections of events without having to chop them up.
You're right, to be clear, Studio One is an excellent DAW, but the fact that to do some editing you have to cut the audio clip could be improved.

This forum can only offer you the best solution to your problem. Shift M works and I'm still using v6. You can also mark several regions and then press Shift M to split and mute all regions at once.

When forum users asked me to upload a file my first google search hit was
It's free and anonymous (no registration) for both uploader and downloader. I'm sure there're others.

Your feature request is valid (like many others) but keep in mind that this forum is an "independent, user-driven forum".

Thanks for the reply, but Shift M isn't working for me.
I'm trying to figure out why, but I'm having this problem on my laptop as well as my studio PC.
Maybe the language conversion?
Of course, the forum isn't connected to PreSonus, but I'll also ask PreSonus about it, maybe they can further improve the workflow.

Upload your video to let the forum users see your problem.
I have the video but it won't let me load it, I did it with the Windows+G function

Upload your video on the site I already posted. It gives you a text link that you then copy and paste here.

Provide as much screen information (inspector/event info) as possible. (Your track could be locked for editing. Or it's something else. I'm not an expert.)

Maybe that's fine, I also included what could be implemented on the smart tool.
Thanks

Can you please check to see what key sequence is assigned to the "Toggle Mute" command? (By default it should be Shift-M. See here

Yes Toggle Mute is present in the keyboard shortcuts, I checked..........

It's ctrl/cmd M in my version. Shift M is unmute. You certainly don't need to cut the bit you want to mute, just select it, pull your cursor out of the way and ctrl M.

Shift + M is the default mapping for "Toggle Mute".
Make sure you're using the default mapping for Studio One.

Please update your signature (see link and example in mine) with your system specs as it helps when responding to questions posted to the Forum!

Regarding "Shift + M" not working for you...
I made a "Test Toggle Mute" macropage to test if the "Toggle Mute" command works for you.
Just download the attachment and import the page to the Macro Organizer.
Then select the audio you want to mute with the Range Tool followed by clicking the "Toggle Mute" button.
It works as expected for me so please confirm if it works for you...
