Mastering Page Fadeout Tip

For the best possible fadeout, use automation instead of the clip fadeout. Maybe it's just me, but the final part of the fade sounds abrupt with the clip fadeout compared to using automation. However, the best part of using automation is that you can do S-shaped fades :)

Appreciated. Makes sense, especially around the shape of the automation curve being just a better fade in/fade out.

Edit: You know, I looked at my last album release and I did in fact adjust many song fade-ins via automation. I do recall areas where the initial level came in wrong or delayed, and by having a little extra lead in with automation, allowed the audio to not be hit with a few millisecond delay causing an incorrect initial level. Impacting the first note or two.

Particularly important with things like ambient, or songs with a gradual low level fade in. Automation levels fix that.
