Keyboard key assignments

Ok fellas somewhere along the line stumbling around in the dark here I somehow changed the keyboard assignments … I think. Now when I select and highlight a track, either in the mixer or in the arranger view it arms the record and monitor buttons !! How do I untie them

You probably selected to enable record and monitor buttons automatically, once you select any track.
Go to the wrench tool, and disable that. The wrench is to the left in the arrangement - track area.
