hey all,
been working on Mac/Logic for 20 years and, since I work in game audio I had to fully switch to Win last year. And unfortunately no Logic there.
Decided to invest in Nuendo and worked with it for over a year now but it never really clicked: a LOT of really questionable design choices but most of all Steinberg's workflow always requires more actions & mouse clicks to perform the same thing. Old school design at its best.
I thought I would get used to it (I just want a piece of software that works) until 5 days ago after, yet again, another bad design choice, I begged Chat GPT to suggest a more streamlined DAW on Win. And came up with Studio One.
Being in the sound business for now 25 years, I knew about it since my Presonus times when I had the mighty Firepod back in 2006 (?) but always thought is was some sort of Garage Band type of DAW for hobbists and never really investigated more in recent years.
My goodness, it took me 2 days of exploring the trial to realize how smooth and streamlined S1 is <3
Modern design, modern and updated workflows, drag & drop everywhere and on top of that scriptable (already bought Harmony Wizard just to support Lukas amazing work for the community).
The grim days of being stuck with the obsolete "software engineer" driven workflow of Nuendo are over and life looks bright again. (no joke XD)
