Solved Is There a Way to Make a Quantized Part Swing a Bit More?

I do my instrumentation practically all MIDI parts and heavily quantized. I'm working on something now and I don't like how it's turning out with the strict timing. Is there a way in Studio One to make a quantized part flow a bit more, or at least sound like it?

One of the actions in the editor is humanize. Can't check now where exactly, but you can look that up in the manual

Yes, it's in the Action menu under "Quantize".

However, in my experience automatic humanizing is usually only moderately effective, as it is always based on random deviations in values. As a rule, you'll get better results if you sit down to a drum or whatever part for half an hour and move the notes manually (with a high zoom level), adjust the velocity as required and get it grooving. It takes a while, but it's usually worth it.

Here's another video that might be useful for fine-tuning the timing:

Thanks guys!

Okay, well you can set quantize to use 'swinging subdivisions' to the beat. So the beat stays the beat, which you can manipulate on the tempo track, but within the beats say an eighths note doesn't have to be (quantized) exactly in the middle of two quarters. Tried to find a video to explain/demonstrate 'swing quantizing' in Studio One but couldn't find one. Maybe a good subject for one of Joe's or Gregor's videos?

It's OK. It's not important anymore. I appreciate your help.
