Solved Is anyone else experiencing MG Soft Acoustic Guitar crashing Studio One?

Hi all: I'm using MG Soft Acoustic Guitar on Studio One 7.1. When I used it in Studio One 6 it never crashed but now it crashes after about 10 of 15 minutes of use and Studio One disappears from my screen after going "bzzzzz" for about a second. Could this be a problem with the MG Soft Acoustic Guitar plugin or maybe it is some setting in Studio One that needs to be adjusted, or some kind of a bug. Has anyone experienced this using this plugin? It doesn't seem to happen with other plugins.

Hi Huertaaj,
That fact that MG SAG worked before with S1 v6 is usually telling that either your new install, over v6, or started a new song folder, or had to install MS SAG over again worked, but the actual path to what caused your crashes is not yet clear. In short, you could try going to the plugin manager in Studio One, delete and run it again by searching plugins over again (often works). Or reinstalling MG SAG with a full reinstall. There's not a lot to go by on our end and while I'm not familiar with Soft Acoustic Guitar, I use a few similar acoustic guitar libraries including my own self made ones for Sample One. I've never encountered an issue, nor hear of many. Another consideration is when something like your issue occurs, it's a good idea to check your PC for available HD space, relocated libraries, latest drivers or any such things that cause the dreaded term "crash".

It's one of those check resources first, dismantle a little of what you last installed to regroup stability, and check as you proceed adding those few plugins or instruments back. Potentially, return prior to a recent OS update, etc.

Personally, I think you likely need to contact support so they can observe the issue better than our guessing (at this time).

Please post your specs for future inquiries in your sig (PC, CPU, platform, version, audio interface). This will avoid many preliminary question as to what you're using as we have no idea. TY.

Not familiar with MG soft guitar either but it looks like (?) it is a Kontakt player library that I think (?) is tailored for Kontakt Player 6.x. The OP lists Kontakt 7 in his Sig - wondering what version of Kontakt is being used and if that's different between S1 6 and S1 7 versions. Kontakt IMO is a necessary evil but is the source of many of my own aggravations 🤪🤕

Indeed AAV, Kontakt is definately a love/hate relationship. I'm good with K8, but who knows what lurks around any other Kontakt dependent software libraries that utilize it.

It might pay for Huertaaj to (Kontakt? 😃) contact MG software and ask if there is a latest version update as their player is based on the NI's Kontakt.

Hello lokefly and AAV, thanks for your comments. Since you asked, I already had my information in the signature area of this forum so I'm not sure why you may not have seen it. If it is not visible I wonder why that is? What I was hoping to find out with my question was to know if I was the only one with this problem and to find out if others had found a simple and reliable solution without going too deeply into my computer software. What I don't relish is the recommendation from Spitfire (see their support site) which is to enable "crash dumps" of my operating system. To do that I would have to get into the Registry and make modifications. I am hesitant to do any of that since I'm not comfortable doing that and don't want to do something that could mess my system up. There is no support directly from MG that I know of so I have to go through Spitfire for that. That said, Studio One 7.1 is a fresh install, the MG Soft Acoustic guitar is a fresh install directly from the Spitfire website. My laptop has 500GB of free SSD space. Since this is the only plugin that is giving me problems I didn't think it would be related to a graphics driver issue, although I will check to see if it is up to date (NVidia GeForce RTX 3070). Anyway, thanks much for the answer and I will continue to try to figure it out.

OK, I just updated my GPU driver to the latest version from the NVidia website. I think it made the problem worse. Now it doesn't crash after about 10 minutes, it crashes after just a few seconds. I just might have to bite the bullet and contact Spitfire after doing the "crash dump" thing.

Yes, sounds like a call out to MG. Sounds serious on your PC.
Hey, my bad locating your information, and it is on your signature. I only clicked your Av once, and as I'm finding new ways of getting around this forum, I'm a bit of a newcomer as well. : )

Checking your NVidia GeForce RTX 3070 was a good move in that video cards can be the cause of such instability. As long as you're comfortable that your PC was and is running fine prior to this latest S1 upgrade to ver. 7, notify Presonus support as well.

on the side, the MG soft guitar samples sound good. Hoping you're system is back very soon. Think of any adjustments you made, added, removed during these recent days you've had the trouble. We often times record the "hits" and not the "misses". In other words, we often notice the problem upon the last incident, when the issue could be that subtle something. Installing a mouse app with an old OS driver, or some peripheral is worth remembering if its been installed. Check your recent installations by date, and make sure no malware hitched a ride upon some recent installation.
Let us know.

OK, I know that in my previous version of Studio One 6 I had ASIO4ALL installed but for this new laptop with a new install of Studio One 7.1 I have not installed ASIO4ALL. I'm using a Steinberg UR22 audio interface and am wondering if I need to install ASIO4ALL. Does anyone think that installing ASIO4ALL might help with the crashing of Studio One 7.1 when I use this particular MG Soft Acoustic Guitar plugin?

ASIO4ALL is only a wrapper. Nothing more. It certainly won't help you by installing it, unless you had some non ASIO device that required such a driver. I use it, and it works for a few devices I need it for when called upon, but that's it.
ASIO4ALL not help you in your situation. Your UR22 audio interface is already ASIO compliant.

Have you installed the latest ASIO USB driver for your UR22 audio interface yet?

Here's a link to the download the driver...

I did not install the ASIO4ALL driver based on the comments of lokeyfly. In any case.... I finally had the opportunity to go to a place with faster internet and decided to delete the MG Soft Acoustic Guitar files from my laptop and redownload that plugin from Spitfire. So far so good! I've been using it for about 30 minutes without any crashes. Based on that I believe that the previous download had somehow become corrupted. What a relief!! I hope it continues to work. It's crazy how such simple things can make things not work. The problem is figuring out which of the many potential reasons for a particular issue or error is the cause. Thanks to all for your help!!! What would we do without this User Forum???

Huertaaj, Trucky was asking if you installed the latest driver for your UR22 (which will be ASIO). So definately do that as well. Not the ASIO4ALL.

So that's good! You likely had some glitch to the slower internet feed when loading Soft Guitar. Keep us posted on your results. Fingers crossed.

Hi lokeyfly, sorry I misread the message from Trucky. My brain needs a little more glucose at the moment.
