How to switch to normal stereo panning (from surround panning)

Why did these channels change to surround panning and how do I get normal pan controls back? Searched all over and seems to suggest I can change from the right click context menu but I see no way to do so.

You have chosen 9.1.6 as Speaker Format for that bus?!

Set it back to stereo or mono (in the mixer or in the arrangement if it's an audio track/channel).

Not intentionally. I opened a previous version I had saved and it's normal stereo. So how do I change it back?
