Once upon a time (back in the late 90s to about 2012), I was fairly experienced Pro Tools, and recorded many albums with it. Never got terribly skilled but was very competent with recording and editing. At the time I was working a lot in studios in New York City and had many contacts with engineers who taught me quite a bit. However, I then took a long hiatus from the recording business to pursue other creative endeavors and have only just gotten back to recording again. I'm no longer in NYC and don't have the easy access to the engineers I had back then. At my Sweetwater guy's suggestion, I decided to try Studio One 6, and while I'm able to to record tracks, I'm feeling completely adrift with the interface. I really want to just focus on the music I'm hearing in my head and get that recorded, but the technical aspects of learning the software are tripping me up and it's getting frustrating.
Yesterday I laid down four tracks of an idea that I'm liking. But I didn't bother to track to the default tempo of 120 bpm and was actually just syncing to an arpeggiator on a synthesizer (it's probably around 85-90 bpm, but likely drifts since it's an old analog synth). I'd like to continue working on this idea, but would want to get the track synced to the session. I imagine this has to do with time stretching, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. Could anyone here offer assistance?
