Height of automation lines?

Can the height of the automation lines be temporarily changed in the vertical resolution, so that for example a change of 2 dB would be a MUCH larger jump between the lines?

It is stressfully cramped working like this and the mouse movement needed for small changes are insanely small. I don't care (in these situations) that an adjustment of many dB's would exceed the window. It's a non issue when doing these fine adjustments. Notice how tall the channel is. Plenty of room to show a much finer resolution. I guess you could call it a zoom. Is there a way?

The only way I've found to deal with that situation (and you probably know it already) is to hold down Shift while dragging, and carefully watch the readout until you hit your 2dB target. Interested to hear if there's some zoom technique that would work.

Yes, I'm holding Shift almost all of the time and watching values.

You know, when mixing for hours and days, even smaller annoyances become stressful. This is one of them. It takes way too much attention (fine motor skills) to perform a simple fine adjustment.

Other than increasing track height, as you did, you can also right-click a point and type the dB-value you want. Helps to have a (keyboard with) numerical pad for this. Especially for round numbers this works pretty quick, better than fiddling with a mouse.

Thanks, I didn't know that and I will try it, although it doesn't seem like an effective way, moving my right hand between mouse and keyboard more than necessary. I'm right handed. I don't have a num pad. Ha, I am hard to please, perfectionist even

I'm not sure this works, I have jumped from ver 5 to ver 7 and I'm sure I used to do this in ver 5. But just been trying to do it again.

I am having a similar problem, but with MPE Pitch bend. I can make the automation in the editor almost the entire size of the screen, and pitch bends in the MPE track are barely visible, much less editable. I guess that comes from all the steps possible from the 48 pitch bend levels times how many steps there are in each of those 48.

It would be great to be able to limit the range in the editor for MPE pitch bend VIEWING (say a major second, third or fifth) instead of two octaves, while keeping the actual MPE pitch bend range at 48.

I've come up against similar conditions with automation. It would be nice as in Melodyne or Studio One's own note edit Window if there was a bar to better scale the automation height. Sometimes those differences are very subtle so seeing something between for example 80% to 100% of the range being automated would be very nice. Sure, we use shift + a fader or mouse works physically, but its nice to be able to easily see the automation curve differences easier. Go back, readjust, and such.

I'd be all for it.

Crop yes, but I prefer to say scale although I think we are saying the same thing. All they'd need to do is have a window scaling bar on the right side that users could reduce or expand its size to zoom in to a workable region.

Crop view. Understood. Only in all due respect, the term "crop" is cutting off some region and carries that meaning in graphic and illustrative purposes. Here, we're not cutting anything (even view as we can still scroll to those outer regions). We are scaling to enlarge the subject' information.

Any-hoo, a lot of us as I'm sure there's many more who arent in forums using Studio One, would invite this added and commonly used scaling convention, elsewhere within the program, also be included to automation.
It would amount to a right side window bar is all.

To the OP's point, scaling autonation vertically makes all too much sense and should be there.

I would vote for such a F/Req.
IMHO it makes a lot of sense as zooming in and out of other area's of SO1's GUI are frequently used.
