Has anyone ever used the Fingerpick plugin by Realitone and gotten "Drag Midi" to work?

Hi all:

I purchased the Realitone Fingerpick plugin loooonnnng ago but was never able to use the "Gtr MIDI" feature that allows one to drag the MIDI to an instrument track. When I tried that it always opened a new S1 song and no MIDI would ever open. Then I would have to close that new song page to get back to my original song page. If you have used this plugin and gotton that "drag MIDI" feature to work can you tell me if there is a trick to doing that?

Thanks!

I can imagine it would work if you dragged the file to Studio One‘s file browser first, then drag it from the file browser into the arrangement.
Some Midi files force Studio One to create a new song when you directly throw them into the arrangement. When used from the file browser those are incorporated into the arrangement. Give it a try.

Was this before Studio One 6? It was indeed problematic to drag MIDI files into existing songs in V5 (and previous versions). V6 got some improvements here.

If this still fails with current versions, it would be interesting to see this MIDI file. The only case I know where MIDI files still open new songs is if they don't contain any note events (only automation or other control data).

I purchased Fingerpick in December of 2021 when i was still using Studio One 5. However, it has never worked in either V6 or V7. I will try what you suggest TDF1981.

Lukas, the problem is that there is no MIDI file generated. When I drag onto an instrument track Studio one opens up a new song and there is nothing on the track in the new song

If there's no MIDI file generated, then it's a Kontakt or Kontakt library problem.

But you can easily test this by dragging the generated MIDI into Explorer and see if there's a valid MIDI file.

Here is the YouTube video describing at minute 10:30 how to drag the MIDI to a track (in a different DAW).

I tried dragging from FIngerpick into Explorer and I get a MIDI file but it appears to be empty. When I drag that file into Studio One the same thing happens. In other words, dragging that MIDI file from Explorer onto a track in Studio One it says... "Open MIDI File" and then Studio One asks "Do you want to load General MIDI sounds for this file". It doesn't matter whether I answer Yes or No, Studio One opens a new song with an empty track (No MIDI file on the track).

Have you tried dragging the file not from the Explorer but from Studio One's built-in file browser though?

When I drag the MIDI from Finterpick to the File Browser of S1, the little temporary MIDI window that appears shows up on the main screen of S1, as if I had dragged it to the S1 main window instead of the file browser. Then when I release the mouse the same thing happens as before (opens new song, no MIDI file on the track).

I've never gotten Fingerpick midi out to work with Studio One. My work around is to drag the file to the desktop, then load it into Cakewalk (I use both DAWs) and then Save As the Cakewalk file as a .mid file back to the desktop. And then drag it to S1. Pretty lame but it works. I know that doesn't really help but just an FYI.

Hello ToneDeaf. Well I guesss I'm not the only one that had this problem. Thanks for your info. I did as you said and guess what.....it worked!!!! I can't believe it. I don't understand why it would work like it does but not the normal way. The only thing that matters is that it works now!!!! Thanks again for your help:):):)(y)(y)(y)
